Which is harder to rack, RM380 or LCP?
Reckon the title says it all.

RM380 is a very easy gun to rack. I don't shoot mine that often, but it's always been reliable.

I've never shot either, but even with failing hand strength I found the LCP (the original hammer-fired version) quite easy to rack.

If anyone is looking for a very easy gun to rack and money isn't an issue, I'd go with the Bond Arms Boberg. Truly anyone could rack this with little to no hand strength.

I don't own either of the two guns you are asking about, however I do work at a gun store and we stock both of those models. So every time I show someone one of those guns I rack the slide to check it before I hand it to them, as one should, (every time). Having done that countless times I find the Remington to be considerably easier to rack, probably because of the larger slide allowing larger surface area to work with. That's my 2 pennies worth. Just don't hold the Remington sideways when you rack it or it can and often will attempt to disassemble itself

I have an original LCP, that I bought new. zit has may be 200-250 rounds through it. The LCP was a little stiff to start with, but after some use, it is fine. If the Remington is easier to rack, what is keeping the slide closed?

I'll tell you what I tell my customers: If hand strength is an issue (at all), get a revolver.

I'm thinking that the RM380 and the Sig 290RS in 380 use heavy slides for their size and caliber. That way slide velocity is reduced and they can use lighter recoil springs. A 290RS is WAAAY easier to rack than a LCP.

I don't think we are quite at that point yet. My fiance can rack most semis OK, but during our range session yesterday it was marginal with the Kahr CW9 and a fail with the LCP. I think her hands were getting a little sweaty by that time. She had no trouble with a Sig P250 380 and a Ruger LC9s.

It's a personal choice but I'd point out that at 3 am, in total blackness , with somebody kicking in the front door, it's not going to get any less stressful.
Anything that makes a self defence gun more user friendly and reliable is worth a look.

The strength and experience issue isn't limited to the ability to rack the slide, but also to make the gun run reliably.
Even if she can handle a particular semi-auto at the range firing two handed from a prepared static stance doesn't necessarily equate to being able to do so in an actual defense scenario. In many personal defense situations, it's relatively common to shoot while moving, using one hand only and from awkward positions and I would be extremely concerned about induced malfunctions, especially since it sounds like she is fairly physically weak in addition to lacking experience.

So far she hasn't managed to limp wrist any semiauto she has tried to shoot, and we are into double figures on models. That said, I think the next range trip will involve a Model 65 and some 38 +P ammo.
