Default Picked up Gen 5 Glocks

When you're checking the Gen 5's out in the store there's not much to report, pretty much a Gen 4 except for a slightly crisper trigger and no finger grooves. When you're firing them, the trigger is significantly improved, the mush is gone, pull seems a tad lighter too.

I like the flared Mag-well. Do not miss the finger grooves, without them I feel there is a better purchase at draw, and getting high on the grip seems more natural (I have the larger beavertail backstrap installed). And I especially like that the 9mm does not have the sort of snap in the recoil that .40 Glocks have.

Nice pick up. Handled the G19 last week while waiting for a transfer. Like you say the trigger is better on the gen 5 and it's more rounded on the slide, less blocky.

My buddy wrung out a G6 17 the other day and got an honest 1.5" group at 25yds w/his handloads using Hornady XTPs. I wished I'd save his photos he sent me. Whatever factory fodder he used was 2.5". Great for most guns, but awesome for a Glock, LOL. I've handled both now, and the trigger is much better, for sure. On the 19, my pinkie finger feels a bit irritated by the cut-out for one to be able to grab the mag base and pull it free. On the 17, my fingers are clear of it completely.

The Gen5s have some interesting changes and I'm sure that I'll pick up a Gen5 19 at some point. For now I can't get my head around the ambi slide-release as that is mainly what's keeping me from buying one.

I shot a new 19 on the roll-out day. Nice gun that shot great, but the cutout on the front of the grip makes it a nonstarter for me - it falls right under my pinky and drives me nuts just like it did on my 23 Gen 2 that I had for 10 years. I'll stick with my Gen 4s.

Would take a lot for me to trade in my G4/19.

I got to wrap hands around a 19 Gen5 and noticed the same thing. The cutout just bugged me. To be honest the finger grooves on a Gen4 never bothered me and I think I prefer them over the Gen5. I was worried I'd be upset because I picked up a 19 Gen4 FS a couple weeks before the Gen5 release. The 19 Gen4 FS will be staying. I'm not upset.
