Default Walter creed?

My brother is interested in getting a Walther Creed, 9mm. It looks like it is a variant of a double action only design, but the description says it is pre-cocked. Not sure what that means. 6.5 lbs trigger,Mahican seems a little heavy to me. 16 round capacity, polymer design.

They seem to go for around 300-350.

I don't know anything about them. Are they reliable? Worth getting?

I rented one at my LGS to try out. It is a really nice budget gun. If I didn't get my M&P I would consider a Creed.

I had its older sister clone the PPX.
It has a strange 3 piece barrel design... a liner pressed into a liner pressed into a barrel sheath.
It locked up tight once...not jammed but locked.
FWIW....that's the only pistol I've ever sold...

I will not buy the Walther Creed on principle. I dislike the name.

That said, they are virtually giving them away at CDNN, a liquidator in Texas.

The design is hammer fired, and it has a very light (for true DAO) trigger action - maybe 6 or 7 pounds.

The action feels like the C version of the Beretta PX4 or the HK LEM trigger. It is a large gun, and magazines interchange, as I understand it, with the PPX.

For an economy 9mm, check out the Ruger 9E.

If they are liquidating them, that makes me wonder if there is something flawed in the design. I just don't know anything, so I am hesitant to give him advice.

Walter Creed is Apollo Creed's little brother. He'll be fighting Rocky in the next movie.

If the design was flawed there'd be a recall. It's a DAO S&W Sigma that no one wanted or asked for. Walther's attempt at making a cheaper gun. In today's market there no room for it.

Also CDNN may be dumping them simply because they're not big sellers. Inventory sits and takes up space. My LGS doesn't carry CZ because they don't sell well. Slow moving

It is their budget gun offering, in the SD9/40 range - kind of a new market niche for Walther. I've read good reviews from unbiased authors but I would look at from a few other standpoints - market alternatives (many), parts and repair availability, cost and support long term. Also would see how it handles and shoots (if you can try one out prior to purchase).

I got rid of mine! Reminded me of a cheap Hi Point pistol.
A poor design in my view.
I own and shoot a Walther PPQA and it is a super high quality pistol.
Stay away from the Creed!

The feed ramp is a separate piece and there have been cases of it coming loose in the identical looking PPX barrel. Does it happen on the Creed? The jury is still out. Web searches on the subject gave me a headache..
