Default New Walther P22

Just put this new OD green/black Walther P22 in CA jail today. Wanted a .22 semi-auto for some cheap plinking at the local range. Wasn't sure what to expect after reading the love/hate reviews online for the P22 and I am not a real fan of polymer firearms. Got to hold it today for the first time and I have to admit that it felt really good, better then I had expected. I was actually surprised at the build quality and how good the ergonomics were. I guess I wasn't expecting much from a sub $300 firearm. In CA this is one of the few semi-auto .22's still on roster. Hopefully it shoots as good as it feels. They also sell a OEM laser for this model that looks awesome. I may have to pick that up as well.

I will state that I have two P-22s and they are awesome shooters. I will also state that they are a heckuva lot of fun to shoot with a suppressor attached but, as you are in California, I won't tell you that.

We bought one of the early production models and it shoots flawlessly. The most accurate ammo was Federal Auto Match.

Default Range Update

So I got my new Walther P22 out of CA jail today and took her to the range for her first outing. Boy this little firecracker is fun to shoot. Louder then I expected and quite accurate. I brought with me three different types of .22 Ammo:

1. Federal Auto Match 40gr High velocity
2. Browning BPR 40gr. High Velocity
3. Aguila Super Extra 40gr. Standard Velocity

The Federal And Browning ran really well. Maybe a couple of FTE's out of a few hundred rounds. Not unexpected with cheap .22 ammo. But running the Aguila I got a FTE almost every other round. Turned the semi-auto into a single shooter. I don't think the Aguila has enough power to cycle the slide. Funny thing was that the Aguila seemed to be the most accurate. The only other thing to note is that the slide did not always lock back every time when firing the last round regardless of the ammo used, but did majority of the time. I really had a blast with this little .22. I think I went through about 500 rounds. When I got home I took her apart for a cleaning and learned that putting this thing back together is a total pain because of the uncaptured spring, but gets easier after you do it a couple of times. I'm very happy with this purchase. Now to get the laser attachment.
