Default Found a Weatherby magazine today!

I have recently posted here about my new to me Weatherby mark cell. It came with only 1 clip for 10 rounds. So the search began online for more magazines. Not many out there and run from $50 to $200 at various different sites. Luck was with me today stopping a little grandpa owned gun shop. He had tons of magazines most with no markings. Found one very similar but had to go all the way back home to get gun so I could check. Sure enough fit and works perfect! Price $15. Now to me that was a great deal!! At least I have 2 Now! Search continues....

Is that a Mark XXII? It showed in your post as Mark cell. A heck of a find.

I hate to offer the obvious, but did you call or write Weatherby?

Check with the big parts dealers?

Weatherby may no longer have mags or other parts, as the gun has been out of production for some time. But ask.

I had one on loan from them for a magazine article years ago, and it performed very well. Nice looking gun, although I felt the magazine release looked too cheap and thin.

I wanted it, but was married then and my wife didn't think we needed it, so... But I still get a pain in my left knee when it's damp and I think of having to return that rifle.

Sorry for auto correct. Weatherby mark xxll. And not quite understanding the post about calling dealers. I need clips to keep not on loan? Even if somebody was to have one I bet you $100 they would charge more than $15. That is probably what they cost when gun was new in the1980's. I think gun cost more than $300 back then.

Years ago, I bought a Kimber of Oregon 82-Varmint, It came with 1 four round mag and none extra were available. I walk into a hole in the wall LGS, He has 3 four round and 2 ten round mags at $10 each. When word got around I had some extra mags, strangers called my home demanding I sell them one or two. I sold one of each to a fellow shooter/friend of mine that owned the next serial numbered gun!

Be careful who you let know if you get another mag!

Ivan

P.s. don't tell my brother, but he has one of these rifles and no spare mags!

The post was what it said. Call Weatherby, the manufacturer. Or, major parts dealers like Gun Parts Corp. (Numrich), etc.

Forget the loan part. Unless you are a certified gun writer and assigned a story, Weatherby will not lend a rifle. I was relating my experience there; not suggesting that you obtain a loan gun!

For about 30 years, I wrote for gun, knife, and other titles. That's how I was able to borrow a MK XXII. Loan periods for journalists generally last from 90-120 days, after which the gun must be returned or purchased. I think my review of the MK XII appeared in, Guns. I don't recall the issue, although it was in the 1970's.

The MK XXII I tested came with Weatherby's scope sight and it was a very accurate rifle. I think it'd be superb as a squirrel shooter.

I didn't say that you'd get a magazine for $15. I didn't cite a price. Just said where you might locate a magazine. You were very fortunate to find the one you did for that price.

I know I paid $125 for mine in 69, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were $300 in 80. I know the $125 was half the price of a Yamaha 90 endure I had been saving up for years for. Couldn't resist the weatherby!
