Kimber KS6
This followed me home from LGS yesterday. Its a Kimber KS6 brushed stainless .357. Here it's compared to a 640-1 Pro

I think I would like the 3" Kimber better. Get a little more velocity and accuracy out of that magnum. Hopefully one day I will come across one to give it a try, and if I'm really lucky get to dissect it.
Enjoy your new wheelgun. They seem to be pretty solid based on reviews.

Nice comparison to the 640 Pro. Just shows how ugly it really is.

No thanks, I'll take the Smith. I've shot the K6 a few times and it just didn't do it for me, especially with magnums. The upper blackstrap and grips bit me pretty good. Too square, need to radius the edges more. Fit and finish we're nice, but aesthetically it didn't float my boat. I'll forgo the 6th round and take a J frame any day of the week.

Congratulations on the new addition.
I have handled and fired several of the 2" KS6 revolvers. I found them all to have fairly good triggers, they were very accurate (I was dinging 8" plates at 25 yards with no problems) and they are 6 shooters that weigh within one ounce of a 2" Model 60
And while not necessary for function, the Kimber even has a recessed cylinder

I wonder where Kimber got their styling cues from?

Tomorrow I'll be going to my range for the second time with mine. Taking a variety of handloads with different bullets. I'm definitely pleased with mine. Maybe I'll settle on a carry and a practice load when I'm done. Then again, maybe I'll have a load that will do for both.

I have a K6s and while some think it's ugly, it's a way better gun than my steel J-frames; both in fit and finish and trigger (not to mention it is a six-shot!). And BTW, if you are buying a gun because it's pretty, then you maybe should rethink your priorities -- it's a weapon!

It's nice that Kimber used non-MIM internals, recessed the cylinders, and took the time for a decent trigger. But it is one butt ugly gun. I'll keep my 640 PRO. I swapped out some springs and did a little trigger work and it too has a really nice trigger. If I feel the need for an ugly weapon day I'll just grab one of my Glocks.

OK. I'm still looking for a Dardick Revolver. I think it tops the Kimber.

I bought the Kimber the first time that I picked it up. The fit and finish plus the attention to details justified the price.
It was at the range that the Kimber excelled. I shoot about 300 rounds a week in snubbies (LCR, SP101, S&W637,Colt DS). The Kimber is the most pleasurable and accurate to shoot of the group.
If you have not handled a K6S I would suggest that it is snub that you may want to take a look at.

Love reading all the negative comments from NON Kimber owners.
I have a fistfull of snubbies including the 640 Pro and bought a K6S/laser six months after it came out and the price had settled down a bit.
I have hundreds of rounds through it and if there is a revolver on my hip it is the K6s. Six rounds, smooth as silk trigger, and great sights if one feels the need. Yes I have a trigger job some of the others that rivals the Kimber but now there is just that pesky sixth hole to find room for on the Smith cylinder.
Other than my pocket carry 340pd, all my other snubbies have been given to my kids or sit in the back of the safe. Well done Kimber.

A lot of folks think the Kimber K6S is ugly. I honesty don't get it. Specifically, what is ugly? I know it doesn't look like a S&W but really apart from that what's the issue? And how does that make it a bad gun????

"ugly" is subjective to the individual. I just held one of these and I was impressed. Trigger was different but nice. The 799 price tag scares me away from it but I bet they are cheaper on the net...

I want to like these, and I don’t want to.
I think they could be great. But I don’t want to spend anymore money. And it also looks to me like a box with a barrel attached to it. I’m hoping it grows on me, but it makes me think of a larger version of that Taurus revolver. I’m hoping the Kimber grows on me though.

Nothing will replace my Smith & Wesson revolvers. That said, the Kimber K6 has earned it's place in my carry rotation. It is a solidly built / excellent shooting revolver. Glad to see this entry in the revolver market. Keeps the bar high.

I have handled (not shot) the K6 snubby and I like the gun very much...just don't want another mouth (cylinder) to feed right now.

Always glad to see innovation in the gun world mix! Ultimately does it operate well in it's projected role as a self defense revolver.
Not to start a war but the Chiappa revolver; now that is UGLY!

My first impression of the Kimber K6S was that their build quality was extremely high. Next the trigger pull is one of the best out of the box examples ever, it's very easy to stage like any properly timed S&W we've been accustomed to. Also the little touches like the recessed chambers is also reminiscent of how S&W use to build their revolvers. All in all I think Kimbers first revolver is an excellent one, I bought a 2" and a 3" version and couldn't be happier.

Fondled a K6s again today at my LGS and the action was stellar and the rear sight adjustable. K6s at the top of my "buy it now" list.

I am sure it is a good gun. I have held them at the store and they seem well built. But, I have to agree with the many comments on here, it is ugly. The 3" version is even uglier. Just looks out of balance or something.

The sw pro is a forged frame ,better made. Next to Taurus,Kimbers are second for repairs.

I doubt that there is a reliable statistic, of that sort, that relates to the K6S.

So is that based on experience? Or hearsay?
Blanket statements don't go over well here without an explanation.

I'm hoping that one day they make one with an exposed hammer. I like a cocking option-hence my fondness for the 638 over the centennial series of Smiths. For an all steel snubby .357, I can't justify another one when I already have an SP101 and a 686+ 2.5"

There are some terribly pejorative comments on this thread, all of which I adore! As to "ugly," Justice Potter Stewart of the Supreme Court said he did not know the definition of "pornography," but he knew it when he saw it.
I'm afraid if I would buy a Kimber, the J-frames (I'm a J-hound, remember?) in my safe would attack it and kill it. It does make some sense, however, being chambered in .357 Magnum, more sense than the new Colt Cobra, steel frame in only .38. A day late, a dollar short.
I hope it succeeds: we need as many successful guns as possible, given the current climate. Awfully expensive, though, the pro shop at my range has them for about $900, which means they will be too expensive on the secondhand market. Not my worry.

I've dry fired and handled them. And I absolutely LOVE the gun. I just can't yet justify buying one.Yet. If it had an exposed hammer, Justification or not it would already be mine. That's all I'm sayin'.......

I don't know, at least it doesn't remind me of a Pontiac Aztek:
It looks more like a gas pump nozzle

I don't think it's "ugly", but I don't think it's the most attractive revolver either.
If anything, it's more "blocky" than ugly. I'm sure Kimber could have "sleeked" it down some easily, as there appears to be plenty of steel there to do it.
I'm more interested in the 3" version, but sadly I think the 3" version is "uglier" than the 2". Believe it's due to the barrel shape/design.
Still would like to try one and strip one down to see what makes it tick, but I will probably never own one. From a design and manufacture aspect though, I am definitely intrigued.

I for one don't think it's ugly at all. And $900 is a lot of money for a small frame revolver. However, once you shoot one and carry it for a while the price is worth it. At least too me it is.
I need all the help I can get when shooting DAO. The K6 makes it easy. I have about 300 rounds through mine most of which is 357. Yup, recoil hurts. But I can control the gun just fine. It's plenty accurate at close range and I haven't any problems so far.
I'm not a Kimber lover by any means. And when they first unveiled the K6 I rolled my eyes. That was until I shot one. It is truly a well made gun. You can tell that there was a lot of thought that went into designing this gun. But you can't please everyone.

What I would really like to see is you popping the side plate off to give us a view of the guts.

I picked one up on Wed, Night sight version for $765. Really think it's potentially a great carry revolver. Haven't shot it yet.
I also have a 640-1 Pro, but when I went out this morning, my Centerfire 640-1 was on my belt, like most days.

I just picked up one with the CT grip from the factory. Can't wait to get it to the range. I like wheel guns especially snubbies. This was just a must have for me.

Needs more caliber choices like 10mm w/moon clips. Probably too small for 44spc.
I'm surprised it made it on our bs Cali roster.

You've sent a lot of K6s back for repair? I'd like to hear more about that so that I know what to watch for.

OK... why would recessed chambers be a good thing? I can't think of a single benefit to them; only detriments.

The recessed chambers make it more difficult to see at a glance if the gun is loaded. The recessed chambers are harder to clean and keep clean. One small piece of foreign material in a recess can tie up the gun at a most embarrassing moment.
In days o' yore when cases were of the "balloon" type, recessing the chambers made some sense. Now it is a detriment.

Please expand on this so called "detriment" you describe. Never heard any of that until now.
