Colt DS 3 inch sight
Anyone ever see a front sight like this on a second generation Detective Special?

I have a 3" DS of the same vintage (i.e. tapered bbl, no ejector shroud) and it has the same standard sight as any other DS.
I've never seen a front sight like that. Interesting.

I saw a 3" DS last month with a half-moon front sight. It did not have the extractor rod shroud either, but could have been from a different time period.

My guess is gunsmith special. If it was a reg sight I might make an offer but $900 plus tax for an altered DS.....nahhh I pass right now. Thanks for feed back.

I'd agree. I have never seen a DS with a Colt factory shark fin front sight. Even were the front sight original, I'd consider the price optimistic on the seller's part. I am not sure, but I don't think the 3" barrel for the DS was available (at least listed as such) until the 1960s.
