I've been a fan of the Kimber K6 since it came out. Posted a review last December or so. Picked up a K6 with a 3" barrel today. Just like the 2" version, the fit and finish is excellent. The wood grip is smooth, fits the hand just right, and everything is balanced. The cylinder indexes about halfway through the trigger pull for easy staged shots despite DAO. It's just more of a good thing, in my view.

Looks just like mine! I've already been to the range & fired it.I also put 6rounds of 357 thru my K6.I will edc with 38 plus P ammo.I even like this gun more than my S&W Model 65 3".

How do you carry? Will you use the stock wooden grip?

I'll probably swap grips with the 2" version when I carry my 3" for easier concealment.

I keep reading good things about the Kimber K6. This gun busts the Kimber hater bubbles from the reviews I have read.

I planned to buy the K6 as soon as Kimber announced it last year, or maybe even the year before. Not because I liked the way it looked (didn't initially) or had a compelling need (didn't), but because I accumulate / collect snubs and had more of an academic interest.

I was conflicted. Welcoming a new entrant into the double-action revolver market while wanting to prove what I "knew to be true," that Smith and Colt made good revolvers and that most everything else was substandard. I didn't want anything to show up my 50,40, and 30 year old revolvers.

A good shop here in Charlotte called when the K6 hit its shelf last December or so. Paid sticker of $900+ tax, but this was the first one seen "in the wild." May have been the first in Charlotte. So, it came home with me. I started by hating the price and that's as far as I got with that nonsense. In fact, this gun is pretty damned good. Fit and finish is top notch. It feels solid and high-end with the recessed chambers and unique / smooth trigger pull. Easiest way to carry 6 rounds of .38 since the Detective Special...and fits in Colt D Frame holsters. It shoots like a laser beam.

This is not a radical reinvention of anything...it's just tuned up a bit. The guts look, more or less, like a S&W centennial...just smoother more refined. It's just a really good effort by Kimber and, as much as it pained me to say it as an unreserved Smith / Colt "fanboy," this revolver has earned its place. It delivers what's promised and then some. By contrast, Colt fell far short with it's Cobra reintroduction.

I've got the 2", a 3", and will surely buy more. Of course, my primary interest will remain J and K frame Smiths.

K6s is on my radar, glad to hear they fit Colt DS holsters.

Colt D Frame holsters are a good fit for the most part, particularly IWB. The Kimber is just a hair smaller than the Colt. Also, note that the Kimber's trigger guard is a bit longer and more oval. That's is the only area where some of my holsters are a bit off...but it's not a problem.

The Kimber K6 is one of the finest modern day American made revolvers you'll find today regardless what barrel length. I'll bet that 3" shoots super fantastic. I had some money saved up for maybe the new Colt Cobra but I found a 2" lightly used NIB K6s for $600 so I jumped and have never looked back. I'm still a huge Smith fan though. Like I've said many times, the S&W company has never totally abandoned us revolver enthusiast, ever. So kudos to them first up but Kimber has done this one right.

I was intrigued when they announced it but had no interest in a 2" barrel .357. I'm definitely more interested in the 3".

The K6 is Kimber's first revolver. The "Kimber Haters" based their opinions (dislike, disdain, hatred, whatever term you want to use) on Kimber's semi-autos. And a lot of that disapproval was warranted, warranted enough to the point that sales were suffering, and authorized Kimber dealers were unhappy with the number of guns they were being sent that didn't sell.

I'm not sure why you think Colt fell "far short"?

The K6 and the Cobra are two entirely different revolvers of different calibers. There's no reasonable set of standards by which the guns can be compared.

I think the Kimber will satisfy the shooters who want the latest and coolest looking .357 carry revolver. My own opinion is that except for the more streamlined design elements and ergonomics, it reminds me of a Ruger. To me, the Kimber is a bit too bulky for what it is, even though it weighs a bit less than the Cobra.

The Colt is a good gun, and it's a .38 Special. I think it's appeal will be more to the revolver purists. Not to mention that it's a couple of hundred bucks cheaper than the Kimber.

I haven't shot or carried either gun, but I've held both...the K6 probably at the same store you bought yours from. I'm in there often.

They're both good guns, of course, and I'm glad to see new revolvers on the market.

Congratulations on your purchase. Keep us posted with a range report or two.

While I have not yet handled a Kimber K6, I like that the indexing notches are between the chambers rather than at the thinnest portion of the chamber wall like some revolvers we're familiar with.

I'm sure this Kimber is a good revolver as everything I've read has had almost all good things to say. I'm all for a well made entry on the market to push competition. I'm sorry but it looks like a Ruger (also good guns) to me and I'm so used to my Smiths that I doubt I'll ever own one. I'm probably missing out but I'll blame my age and anti-social tendencies.

I never buy a small revolver for looks, I buy it to potentially save my life. The lack of an exposed hammer, an exquisite trigger, great sights, and rounded off edges made it the perfect choice for me.
