Default Bought a Glock today

I know youre thinking: ugh! why? Truth is Ive owned a few Glocks in the past, mostly G20 and 29, but as part of a trade a few weeks ago I came into possession of a ported Storm Lake .357sig barrel for a G27. So I said: what the heck, Ill give it a try. So I found a suitable used sub $400 G27 on GB as a guinea pig for my experiment and Ill let you know how its does. Ill probably shoot it a bunch over the next few months, then tire of it and trade it away or sell it. Just thought Id share.

My name is Old_Cop and I own some Glocks too. I am partial to 17 and 19 RTF2 models although I have a 19 that I took a wood burner to. There, I've said it.

Nothing wrong with a Glock. I carried a 27 as a second gun (and sometimes an only gun) for over 25 years. It got me out of some tight spots and is still going strong for my youngest son.

I have purchased eighteen Glocks, but only have seven and a half Glocks now. I have never seen a Glock win a beauty contest, but they work real well.

I prefer to shoot other guns and look at other guns, but I will always have a Glock in my collection. My G22 is my bedside gun and I trust it.

Just as much as I like my '65 Riviera, I like my guns with hammers. None of that fancy new stuff, no compromise.

I'm a revolver guy....will probably always be a revolver guy. Carry one every day...however... I'm picking up a Glock this weekend.

Never owned one before but have shot them enough to know they work with boring consistency.

I agree they ain't pretty, I really don't want to like them....but they do work really really well....

I put the barrel in it when I got home and took some pics of it. I think it looks pretty bad***

Funny thing happened. I got out of the army, and this guy told me he would give me a car, a new belt, a gun, and pay me to drive around this city and deal with the silly people. Only catch was the gun was a Glock.

I took him up on the offer. Car is decent, belt doesn’t need shined, and pay is pretty good. People are looney tunes sometimes. And the gun ain’t pretty. But it works.

Plus side is I get to carry a cool little 640, but I’m not allowed to let the public see it. I think it’s cause if they see that, they might ask why the other gun isn’t so pretty.

My half Glock, a 30sf frame with a Advantage Arms .22 LR conversion unit. It actually works, unlike the first one I had.

Glocks are my all-time favorite auto-pistols and I own a handful of them. Ugliest guns out there but mine have been unbelievably reliable and I shoot them well.

I've only owned two Glocks, a 22 and a 19, both second generation and both bought lightly used.

They've been gone since I went back to revolvers only, twenty years ago.

I liked both the Schnitzel burners, and certainly wouldn't mind owning the 19 again today; but I think I've now bought my last gun.

I've had revolvers and metal framed semis for decades. And I've shot Glocks. But for my first poly pistol I had to stay with the S&W family and opted for S&W's Glock interpretation-the SD9VE. It's boringly reliable and has great combat accuracy. Plus I like the grip angle better than the Glock.

I think Glocks are very reliable, high capacity fighting tools and if I were a LEO that's what I would carry (ugly as they are).

Since I'm not in the LEO profession and can't carry more than 10 rounds in my Nanny State anyway, I don't own one as I'm not a Polymer or Plastic fan & I'd rather but another 1911 or 1903 Colt pocket Pistol instead - but (normally) don't carry them either.

My EDC is still a M60-7 It's light, compact, powerful with the BB or GD loads and slips into a pocket with ease. I prefer a M60 every day in any weather over a big, bulky Glock sometimes in some weather. Once you get into the compact Glock 43's which are much more concealable and lighter, I see less of an advantage over the old fashioned revolver as the capacity isn't all that much better. As reliable as the smaller Glocks have gotten they are still behind the revolver IMO.

My first purchase of a "high" capacity handgun was a S&W model 459,way back in the 80s. It was very inaccurate and unreliable right out of the box.Ammo choice made no difference. I sent it back to S&W 3 times and then sold it,after S&W told me 4" groups at 10 yards was "acceptable" accuracy. I swore off self loading pistols until a law enforcement friend started to shoot at the range with me. His Glock 19 was accurate and dependable. He never even cleaned it. I ended up buying one and became a loyal owner.I now own 6 or 7 of them at last count. They may not be "handsome" but in their own rights..they are as good looking as an Abrams tank and just as deadly. I will always be a fan of them as they have proved themselves worthy of my respect. From my cold dead hands.

Only thing that matters in a gun

Glock 43 at 15 yards

Glock 21 at 20 yards

Glock 22 15 yards

If it looks good but you can't shoot it whats the point? Has anyone entered their car tires in beauty contests? Did anyone care?

He bought a gen. 1 Sig P250 not long ago; they aren't that pretty.
I know, because I have four P250's myself.

P250f .45 a.c.p. and a P250c 9mm.

P250c in 9mm and .40 S&W.

I switched from a Colt Commander to a G26 a couple of years ago. Got a deal on a G22 & G27 and traded the G26 for a G43. Modified the G27 to 357 Sig. Didn't like it, so I went back to the (modified) G27. Best accuracy of the group. Liked it so much, I converted my G22 to 357 Sig.

Wife liked them so much, she had me get her TWO G43=one for nightstand and one for purse.

Also have a G20 for woods walking

Every time I say I'm done with buying Glocks I buy one a few weeks or months later.

I traded my last one, a G23/19 combo, for my '71 19-3 4" TT,TH,WO,RR nickel.

Truly you must buy at least a Gen 3 39 or 59 series and a SWaMPy 2.0 and two J and / or L frames; to make amends with the universe.

I own three a 17l, and a 42, and my 35 is carried daily by my LEO son on duty, I have a 357 sig barrel as well for the 35 and a couple hundred rounds of ammo and it makes a difference the 357 sig is a power house

I am a old walnut and blue steel gun guy, but in a pistol, "pretty is as pretty does" and a glock does pretty very good

I have a G17, and a G27 (40 S&W) with conversion barrels for 357 Sig and 9mm. One would never call them beautiful, as I do my S&W revolvers, but it's nice to have choices.

I still shoot my Smith&Wesson SW40c.
This is the EXACT model that Glock based their lawsuit on.
Yes,,,,it is almost a GLOCK copy.
Glock won, an S&W paid them millions and millions(7) of dollars.
S&W had to re-organize after this fiasco.

Reorganize after only $7 million? I'm not saying that a little sum just figured that kind of money for a company like SW would already be set aside for lawsuits and such

Interesting, that barrel in the OP looks like one I purchased for my Browning Hi Powers. It worked, but not of an improvement to replace the OEM barrel. Still have it in safe somewhere. As for Glocks, I have a 23 and 36 I carry on a regular basis. Hard to drop an ole habit as we issued them for the last 20 yrs I was on the job. My 1st love is S&W revolvers still. What I learned to shoot handguns on. Hard to beat em....

Glock model 32 (357 Sig, compact) is my primary off duty sidearm.

Carried a 21C (45 ACP, ported) for several years until the M&P 45 ACP came out as my primary duty sidearm.

Excellent tools. No soul.

I always keep one Glock to remind myself how much I don't like them. Currently it's a G19.

That said, the one Glock I truly like is the G42, which is fairly unique when compared to other micro-sub-compact .380s.

Have 2 Glocks. First got a Gen 4 G19. Discovered how well that big white outline and front dot worked, especially out of focus (old man eyes). It stays as an option. Than got a G42 for locked breech .380 and those cheap sights, that just work. The PPK is going by by next year.

Still don't like the triggers, but can adjust.

I've got a 17 & a 21. The 21 (.45acp) is my issued duty gun. For their intended purpose & function, there is nothing better.

Best,
Charles

Default Glock 27/357sig range report

Took the Glock to the range yesterday and tried out the ported .357sig barrel. I have to say, Im impressed. It was a very smooth shooting gun, not much muzzle flip at all with the porting. There werent any issues using the .40 mags. The thing ate ammo like a fat kid at the buffet. Accuracy was better than I could shoot. At 15 yards I ended up with a ragged 3 inch hole with a few fliers that were definitely my fault. Muzzle and port blast was impressive. Id love to see what it looks like at night. Im even considering putting it in my EDC rotation if I can find a decent holster. I was thinking of an Alien Gear IWB if I could modify it for the longer barrel.

I'm a revolver fan but like me some other guns also...including Glocks of which I have a few.

My two favorites are a 27 and a 26...carry one or the other more than often.

I'll never understand the "too ugly" comments. I mean, if that was a condition none of us would be married.

I picked up a Glock 17 last weekend....like has been said already, it functioned flawlessly and was surprisingly accurate.

Hard to hate them.....

Not too proud to admit that I own a grand total of ONE (1) Glock.
A very used LE trade Gen 2 G19. With a total of 3 magazines, it's the near-perfect truck gun.
I know for a fact that it, like all Glocks, work all the time.

I hold all the attachment to it as I would a good Estwing hammer.
As easily replaced as a truck tire. I figure $260 well spent.
