Default WWII Nazi marked Walther PP 7.65

Bought this from a friend yesterday. Boy, these things are getting hard to find any more. This one was made in 1944, thus the utility polish job.

Very nice score moosedog. Yep gettin harder to find plus prices on Third Reich weapons seem to be increasing lately in value. Great pistol to own and collect. Hope you got a good deal and hold onto it!

On the left side of the trigger guard will be a "proof mark" of an eagle, with or without a swastika. Under or beside or both, will be one or more letters (usually capital letters). That will tell you which "agency" of the third reich is was intended to be used by. I had a PPk that was for Police use, one letter different would have been Gestapo. That was a several hundred dollar difference.

If you look at the OP‘s third photo, you can see the “WaA359” stamp on the frame behind the trigger quite clearly. This is the standard military acceptance mark found on 1944 pistols and indicates most likely Wehrmacht service (no surprise by that year).

I'm a fan of these in all their variations; my father passed a .380 (9mm Kurz) version to me which is a joy to shoot...if you hold it right. And use ammo it likes. And so on...

I have original examples as well; but I carry an FEG PA 63 clone as a pocket pistol for defense in 9mm Makarov. IMO it's an excellent defense weapon even today but I don't want my originals taking the beating of everyday carry. You have a very nice find there!

I had a very nice Nazi-marked PP once, long ago. I hadn't even fired it before I traded it off for something else. One of many such foolish actions I wish I hadn't taken.
