Well I have had my first ever case its a peanut .I have it now about 90 days or so. Got to say it's with out question my all time favorite E D C non lockblade knife. So much as I don't think as of now I would ever need another case model. Geeze if it came that easy with firearms lol Any one else sold on one and only case

My first knife was a Case XX. It was a present for my 13th birthday. A two blade folding knife. People carried pocket knives everywhere in the 60's, so I always had mine at school. Teachers from city backgrounds, didn't carry a knife they borrowed from others! One day a few years later the Geometry teacher was running study hall and ask to borrow my knife, I pulled it out thinking he would open mail or something similar. Nope, he use the point to pry open a jammed stapler, well almost.. he broke about 3/8" off the point.

After that it was just another "busted" knife, used for construction. It eventually got lost.

I carry Swiss Army Knives (SAK) for everyday carry. I have one from January 1978, I bought in Mexico. Due to the longevity of having it, I only carry that knife when the wife and I go camping. I had it in my pocket when we got married (5/78), so I don't want to lose either one!

I like the Case folders. I have three of them. Two stockmans that were gifts and a small lock blade. I really like the utility of the stockman because I can keep one blade for when I really need something sharp, one blade for most general purpose use, and the third blade (usually the sheepsfoot) is used for stupid things that are usually rough on a blade.

Unfortunately, I hate having to reach all of the way into my pocket so I typically carry a lock blade with a pocket clip. I’ve seriously considered purchasing a small pocket clip and trying to solder it onto one of the bolsters on one of my stockmans.

I have a few Case folders and they are one of the last few "Made in USA" survivors now. They are very well made, affordable and purdie! They certainly have a plentiful selection to choose from

Since 2001 my EDC is a Marbles Gladstone Large Stockman Folder made in the now obsolete Marbles Custom Shop - Gladstone, Michigan USA. What Marbles sells now is Chinese repro's - not worth buying.

The two brands of old style folders I recommend now are Case and Queen.

BTW: the blades on my EDC are made of highly polished Carbon Steel - (not Stainless) so that is why if you zoom in you can see the freckling, While they don't stay perfectly "clean" like Stainless Steel, they are razor shaving sharp which is my preference. While I am pretty adept at sharpening Stainless, I can not get a SS knife to equal what I get the Carbon Blades to. YMMV

My first Case was my late 1960s stag Folding Hunter. While I carried it as a work knife more than my other large folders it is too big to be my one and only. I still prefer its two blades over one that locks. Also Case's chrome vanadium (not stainless) steel has a very practical balance between edge holding and ease of sharpening. While some of my high carbon stainless blades technically are better I never used them as often as my old fashioned "carbon steel" blades.

While I do like Peanuts if I could only keep one tiny knife it would be one of Case's discontinued Pocket Hunters. Their two long blades make better use of the available space. The secondary blades in tiny knives are not good for much more than opening packages. However, the main reason I'd keep a Pocket Hunter is they are styled after my old friend.

Those of you who do not like reaching down into your pocket for a multi blade knife, if you're required dress allows it, could consider a belt pouch. I like carrying a large Stockman in a Case leather Trapper pouch.

I only have one Case. It is this lockback "Hammerhead". Shown with
my S&W Model 19 in a Seventrees Combat Speed Scabbard, on a
Haugen belt.

I have several other lockbacks, but only the one case.

I'm a little late to the party regarding Case knives. I've picked up 4 or 5 in the last year or so. The quality, fit and finish are top notch, made in USA is the cherry on the sundae. That said, a SAK is still my EDC. Not so much for the knife blade, but the tools. Not as versatile as a multi-tool, but a lot easier carry.

I'm still lugging around a Sodbuster Jr.

I personally view my EDC Folder as a Tool and not a SD weapon. That is what Roscoe is for. I was never trained in edged weaponry and honestly don't have much of a desire to learn now.

Maybe I'm foolish (OK I said it) but that's just the way I always viewed a knife. While I do have s few of the fast opening modern designs like Kershaw, I carry them on those occasions that if I drop it down a cliff, over the side of a boat, or leave it somewhere I will not loose any sleep. In other words I have little love-loss for those kind of knives. When in the woods I carry a Marble's Gladstone USA Sheath Knife that can perform more robust tasks than a Folder can, but I still carry a Folder anyway and wind up using it 90% of the time. The Sheath knife comes in handy for heavy ropes, tree branches, and making Tent Stakes if necessary.

I have NEVER considered a knife a weapon......As you said its a tool....Been carrying "said" tools ever since my pants had pockets................

Oh.... and BTW I have nothing but respect for those who ARE trained in SD with knives! I know it takes a lot of training, discipline and skill to to so effectively.

got this XX vintage peanut awhile back... then bought a new one and was disappointed to learn they had completely changed em... theyre way thicker now.

My father always carried a pocket knife and it was always a Case.
Boys do what their fathers do....I always carried a Case too.
Pop said you should always have a clean handkerchief and a good pocket knife in your pants when you leave the house.
Which I still do. Sadly more and more places do not allow a pocket knife to be carried, more than once I've had to go back to my car and leave it . I miss the old days but I'm glad Case is still in business...Dad told me they were the best for your money.

What side covers does your new Peanut have? Often stag is thicker than bone and bone is thicker than mother of pearl.

Getting back closer to the original topic, a Case yellow Delrin CV Trapper is the most popular pocket knife with the old geezers and small farmers in my rural area. All the local hardware stores have stocked them for a long time.

After reading this thread I'm tempted to hunt down a Case CV Peanut but I can probably make it through the week without one.

My story starts out the same as Ivan's. Every boy that I knew
when I was in school carried a pocket knife a comb and a book
of matches. In 7th grade we got a Spanish teacher, he was from
NY. No one liked him very much right from the start. People from
NY don't mix with Hill Billys. He needed a knife to cut string on
a package and me being nearest kid I tossed him my Stockman.
He cut string and put the knife in his desk, telling me that I had
no business carrying a knife to school. I was hot, called him
several choice names and walked out of class and I went to the
principals office. ( I knew the way well ) Told the Principle what
happened and he called the teacher down. Got my knife back and
Principal had a talk with the Spanish teacher and he never took
anyone's knife again't. Principal made me apologize for cussing
Teacher out, but I didn't get the board that you got for cussing
back in those days. I guess early example of culture clash.

I only own 1 Case folding knife. It's a U.S. marked MIL-K Demo knife. It's the only one I've found, and it's the nicest demo knife I've ever seen. It actually has brass liners and is super smooth.

Here's a Cammillus one. Most were made by Camillus, with a ton of variants. They were issued in survival kits, tool kits and sold at the PX. They were made by around a dozen others. The Case made one is very rare. Also I made a typo, I meant.to type MILK, but more accurately it was MIL-K.

Back to the O.P.'S POST YA CAN NEVER HAVE ONE CASE KNIFE THEY ARE NOT THE VERY BEST BUT THERE NOT TOO SHABBY EITHER.except for work Case is usually in my pocket or on my belt.One of my favorites is a ten dot(1970) bone jack I only pocket during special events.Other than that this folden hunter and small trapper gets the call when in the woods of Maine

Smokey Mountain Knife Works sells a gazillion styles of Case knives, on line or better yet they will mail you a free full color catalog that you can look at , turn the pages and compare all the different models....I still like catalogs !

The Case Peanut is a knife that "cuts" bigger than it is. It's a small knife, but when you unfold it the longer blade is as big as many larger stockman-style knives.
