Default Local rural auction buys. Need info on Redfield

I went to an auction last Sat. I bought a super nice, like custom, Mauser to gift a relative for 170 bucks. It is a 30 06.

Bought me a Rem 700 Matt black in 22 250 with a new 250 dollar scope on it.

They pulled a Redfield 3x9 Wide field out of a box, I had not looked at it. Got it for 12.50. The parallel will not adjust. Stays perfectly clear at 3 to 5 feet. Will not clear up at distance. The power ring is on 3 and will not move.

I called Iron sight and the base repair, new O rings, cleaning and gas charge is 95 bucks. We'll worth fixing.

I recently bought a new Redfield revenge, it is a good mid cost scope. This Wide field is only the 2nd Redfield I've ever owned.

It has a tall top turret but no cover, there are 3 indendions for one to snap on.

Is any one a Redfield collector or have older catalogs?
I could not find any info on line except the wideview, TV, scope came out in 1970 or 71.

Any one have an extra top turret cover or know who has old scope parts?

We've been busy for the last year, building fence and buying cattle. We finally are getting our house built,v they are setting up the basement forms right now.

We have to make a 5 acre lot to wean calves and hold some just weaned Gelphfie heifers.

When the house is done we will get internet. Doing it on a cell phone screen is a pain. Have not forgotten and miss you folks, look forward to more time after we get internet.

Try Redfiels-they may refurbish the scope for a nominal price

I still have Redfield Widefields on a couple of my rifles.
Have a 3-9 and a 2-7 Purchased them in the 70s. A bit dated now but a very fine scope!

I agree with Cajun call the company!

Leupold has bought Redfield recently and I believe offers a line of Redfield scopes as well as their Leupold line up.

I do know that in the past Redfield had superb customer service. I have a Redfield 6x40 scope that crashed the crosshairs...sent it back to Redfield(Colorado at the time) and they sent me a brand-new one free of charge.

I'm not sure just how Redfield supports past products now as they changed hands a time or two before Leupold bought them...but it's worth a shot to call and ask.

Stevie is correct and Leupold now owns Redfield. I'd give them a buzz Monday morning and ask what they can do. Redfield has always been a respectable scope.

It's my understanding that the "old" Redfield company is totally out of business, and the Redfield name that Leupold bought is no relationship to it. Leupold won't work on the older scopes, but there is a company (that unfortunately I can't remember the name of) located in Texas works on them and does good work.

Back in the 1980s I bought a Redfield with a broken rear lens at a gun show for next to nothing. I mailed it to Redfield writing only my scope is broken and I want to pay you to repair it. It was originally sold with interchangeable cams marked for distance that fit into the elevation knob. The cams matched the distance markings to common deer hunting cartridge trajectories. Redfield no longer had parts for the model. They replaced the inner tube that included the rear lens and turrets with their then current ranging system. They only charged $7.50 handling and return shipping. I will not bore you with another story but Leupold treated me just as well.

They deserve our continued business.

Thanks, h richard and bent cam are right. I called and Leupold doesn't support old scopes.

I spoke with iron sight, he had no idea on time.
Anyone heard of L K repair?

I have to correct my Redfield count, I meant purchased on for 2.

My late FIL gifted me his German WBY that has a Redfield wide field and it still works great.

Thanks again to all for input.
