I have owned most semi auto models, great plinkers. Reliable and like the single actions might last forever when properly maintained.
I once had OU'S in 12 and 20. Good guns.
M 77, I've owned too many to count. Several were super accurate.
I bought new one of the 1st in 7 Rem mag. It had a slightly heavier bbl than the later ones.
I still have one target somewhere that I shot off the hood of my truck in front of witness' at 200 yards. You could cover all 5 shots with a nickel and only see ragged edges when a dime was placed on it.
As with every very accurate gun ive owned someone's pocket book got bigger than my ability to say no.
I had one like it in 25 06 it was a shooter plus. Someone had to have it before deer season. My brother, who is hard to impress, shot it quite a bit, said it was the most accurate gun hes ever seen. He still gets on me for selling that one.
I always wanted a M 77 in 257 Roberts like folks are posting and one in 7 mm.
They were never marked down in LGS'. I did trade one of my Weatherbys for a Kimber in 7mm 08 for my wife and liked it so well I traded into another Kimber like it for me. So now I don't have a need for the 7mm. I'll just rough it with the Kimber.
At gun shows and gun shops I've looked for another early M77 in 7 mag. Have never seen one. I guess that tells me how often smart folks lets one go.
