So I see that Ruger is now offering new models of the LCRx and even bringing back the 9mm SP101. Ever since Ruger introduced the 3" LCRx in .38, I have wondered when they will bring out the Magnum version. But for some reason Ruger has yet to bring out the 3" LCRx in .357 Magum. Does anyone know why that is? The LCR .357 seems pretty popular, but a 3" makes much more sense in the Magnum than a 2" .357 or a 3" .38. I just don't get it!

I agree with all your points. With all the new versions they announced, I thought the .357 LCRx 3 inch would have been included?

Conspiracy (aka marketing) theory: by waiting between the intro of the .38 and .357. People who would have only bought the .357 version but who would shoot .38 as well (or mostly) will buy the .38, next year, two years from now they will buy a .357 as well.

I think you'll like the SP-101, and it'd probably be more durable with .357 ammo and more pleasant to fire.

I have a couple of SP-101's and one LCR - a .22LR. I like the LCR but it has at least one potential problem area in my opinion. My LCR shoots fine and is reasonably accurate - but the crane to frame retention is a little bit loose on it. Understand that probably isn't a major issue - but I'm sure it won't get better over time! All of my SP-101's are bank-vault type tight in that respect. Sure, the 101's are heavier and more expensive - but I'd be another to recommend getting one of them versus a .357 LCR ...
