IAC - Norinco 1887
Picked up one of these lever action shotguns this week from a coworker. It's NIB and might be an earlier import since it lacks the markings on the side of the receiver.
Not sure when they started importing these or when they stopped? Saw a couple of videos where they had ejection issues but on others they worked fine. I figured for $300 what they heck. Anyone else got one?

They're fun, but most things Norinco need work to be repeatable in their fun.

I recently did a third party FFL transfer involving one of those 1887 repros,,the one with the short bbl.' It wasn't Norinco marked,,but rather from the 'PingPong' Metal works, China and CAI Import.
All markings large and can't miss'em on the left side of the frame along with the Model and ser#
Looked kind of crude as far as finish,,well Ok it was kind of crude. Don't know how it shot. A friend who is now into CASS as a retirement adventure really really wanted it.
As far as the arms import ban from China,,it's a mix of law and exec order over the years and several administrations.
The one that stopped the 'Sporting Firearms' imports from China is I believe an exec order from GWB in 2003(?).
The gun looked like it's be fun,,I might have even bought one in a long bbl'd version for Skeet!

I will say this good thing about Chinese shotguns. I had one of their SxS hammer guns. It was crude fit and finish were fair (if I'm kind)
Before they put the barrels together, the right barrel had a 1/2" wide and about 1/10" deep swamp in the wall. A friend has the very expensive inside diameter gauge. Both barrels were .729" Inside Diameter, from end to end! not 1/1000 of variation. That is very good! The "Thin" spot turned out to .043" thick. The Brits say .029 is min. for any fluid steel shotgun barrel so it only looked bad, like the rest of the gun!

Mine is only marked on the upper and lower receiver tangs, sides of the receiver are bare. Of course the gauge and stuff is marked on top of the barrel which is the 20" length. The serial # is 06008xx. Was wondering if that might denote 2006 as year of manufacture?
Getting ready to head to the range this morning with an assortment of 00 Buck and some low brass 7 1/2. Some of the reviews I read and or watched said you can load an extra shell on the lifter but others said you can't so perhaps that was a change during production?
One review mentioned a gun shop that could iron out the ejection issues and modify the lifter to accommodate the extra round for something like $150 including return shipping. Seems like that's what I recall the cost being stated as.
As fas as fit and finish goes this one is on par with my Rossi Ranch hand. Good wood to metal fit but the receiver could have been polished better. Bluing overall is even and fairly deep in color. The wood looks nice though little to no figure. Very straight grain.
The action it self is kind of big and clunky but extremely simply in design.

Just got home and I'm happy to report she ran like a top. Everything ejected perfectly. My range partner had one empty hull hang up when he fired it but for whatever reason on that shot he cycled the lever slowly. Every other round he fired ejected fine if you cycled the lever briskly. I'm very pleased!

I have a Norinco shotgun that I’m happy with so far. Not the same model being discussed though.

I've owned one for a long time. Fit an finish is good. Gun has never failed with buckshot or birdshot. 20" bbl. Wish it was longer. It has a nice "perch belly" walnut stock. Mine's stamped IAC Billerica. I've shot skeet with it before.

I don't own one but have witnessed a fellow Cowboy Action Shooter in a SASS match have functioning problems with his. He had to send it back to have it repaired and honestly do not know the out come. I was not impressed with fit, finish and lack of smoothness but that was a while ago and they might have woken up and improved them by now, don't know.
