Default FUSION 1911

My brother visited a new GS & the mgr.tried to sell him a Fusion 1911! He said, just looking have any Kimbers!Guy said why would you want THAT....All their parts are made in India.Brother called me & I told him what I know about Fusion.... TO ME they basically are production guns with a custom price tag.J've encountered a "few"of them and wasn't impressed. Some like them .For what they are asking on their high priced 1911's I would rather have a Brown,Les B or a Wilson!I have heard a few "horror"stories about them.Anyone have any feedback??

I hadn't ever heard of them. There are lots of 1911 makers these days. Take your pick.

Bob Serva was the engineering brains at Dan Wesson. He came up with the CBob VBob and their CCO. He left Dn Wesson/CZ and began his own production. I have spoken with him several times and seen some of his Fusion builds. They were all fairly nice and well optioned for the price point.

I've never owned or even handled a Fusion 1911...but I have owned a Kimber, in fact three of them. If you want a gun to look at, they are pretty...but if you want something to shoot, you need something else. I've owned 23 various 1911s in my time, and the only ones I had a problem with were the Kimbers...and Kimber has lousy customer service.

As I said, I don't know anything about Fusion 1911s, but the LGS guy was dead right about Kimbers. I'd almost rather have a Hi-Point than a Kimber. In fact, I did own three Hi-points: a .45, a 9mm, and a .380, and crude they may be, but they worked. Hi-Point has great customer service too.

I have a friend that has 2 1911 Fusions. They are A+ and the owner will talk to you.

I've owned 20+ 1911's myself, 7 or 8 Kimbers. Never had any problems with any of them except some night sights were dimming.

I was not the original owner but Kimber replaced them without a charge and I had the slide back in less than a week.

My Kimbers are some of my best shooters.

Bob Serva (Fusion Firearms) owned Dan Wesson arms and sold it to CZ. He will work with you to create a firearm you can be proud of.

Wow...that is SO not my experience! Not one of the three I owned would shoot more than 50 rounds without a thorough cleaning, or it was jam city. My LGS owner was also a gun smith, and he couldn't get them run without malfunctions either. Kimber just said shoot 500 rounds and then call us.

Let me ask you this: you buy a new car, and it won't go 5 blocks without stalling, missing, or dying. If the dealer told you to drive it 500 miles and then come back to him, what would you do? A pistol is a LOT less complicated than a car, and yet we expect to drive a new car off the lot with no problems...why do we accept less from a gun? The answer is, I won't. That's why I will never buy any gun that doesn't have a lifetime warranty and excellent customer service.

My second hand experience has mirrored GKC. One store here had a rather large problem with Kimbers in a short time that they no longer stock them. Another shop has a large turnover of Kimbers. They always have some used 1911s but majority are Kimbers. Salesmen say that people buy then come back and either flat out want to get out of it or have them shipped of to the factory for repair. Once the guns come back the customers often trade them in for something else. Every one of the salesmen finds Kimber to be a joke. Now I'm not saying that salesmen are some know everything types but when you sell 50 different brands and the biggest complaints come from one expensive brand it shows a pattern.

I'm not so big into 1911 that I care if it's Kimber or SW or Colt. For me...I just want quality and reliability. Any company can make lemons so I'm not looking for one with a 100% track record but if 2 large stores have constant problems it shows a pattern
