U.S. made Sig P210 becoming available
I've been waiting since SHOT Show 2016 - and then since SHOT Show 2017* - for the U.S. made Sig P210 to become available.
I am now seeing the five inch target model, 210A-9-TGT, in the trade. Local Cabalas computer inventory shows it available. Their price seems reasonable, too, competitive with internet sellers.
But I'm waiting for the six inch Super Target. I'll be looking for reviews while I wait.
*Mark Keefe, NRA, did a youtube video on it at the 2016 show. He did another one at the 2017 show, completely ignoring that he had done virtually the same review a year before. As I have been looking for this gun the past two years, several LGSs told me that Sig is notorious for vaporware. Announce products that never come, or take a very long time. But also that Sig aren't the only perps, just worse than most.

There was one sitting in the case at my local Cabelas last week. I think it was $1750. I didn't even know they were making them here.

All I ever kept hearing was that handguns were verboten in Canada. Then I hear things why some revolvers have barrels slightly longer than 4" so they can be sold in Canada.
What is the reality in your country as far as handguns?

The story I heard - caution: this is a 4th hand story on the internet - was that Sig Sauer stopped exporting the German Legend models to the U.S. (~2013) on orders from the German government. Allegedly, Sig had drop shipped in New Hampshire a large amount destined for Colombian police. Germany had an export ban to Colombia, and wasn't happy with Sig's little side step, and banned all export.
Sig knew their biggest market is the U. S. So get this: they exported the FACTORY! Couldn't send the pistols, but could send the whole damn factory!
I hope the story is true, cause I love it.

Fact is that SIG Sauer lost their export license because SIG Sauer, Inc. had exported pistols to Columbia for their police and as a result SIG Sauer GmbH & Co. KG could no longer export their handguns directly. Of over 200 employees in Eckernförde only about 50 are left nowadays and the hunting rifle production had been moved to Isny. In November the proof house in the SIG Sauer basement, run by the government, closed its doors. On top of that labour cost in the U.S. is lower than in Germany and logistics added to the cost of the product.
Why should the German government be concerned about 150 lost jobs when they let millions of illegals into the country without vetting?

AFAIK, those Sig Sauers delivered to Columbia by SIG USA were indeed manufactured in Germany, so the German Government rated this an unauthorized export... Over here in Germany there are not many things considered worse than guns, and people who legally own guns are considered worse than most other people...
sad regards from Germany

You are right that the pistols that were re-exported from the States to Columbia were made in Germany and despite lack of proof that this was an intended circumvention of the export regulations, the German government revoked the general export license. In Germany there is an individual export license (actually two; one for Germany and one for the E.U.) that has each serialized gun listed and a general export license, where serial numbers are reported separately.
Obtaining an export license to non-EU countries for firearms in Germany is quite complicated and obviously a further discouragement to legal gun ownership. It is good that we have the 2A and the NRA here.

Saw one at LGS on Thursday. Don't like the grips nor the price. Don't trust the US quality from Sig, especially for that price.

I took a leap of faith and bought an American P210. I admit to being pleasantly surprised at the at the barrel/slide/frame fit, clean machine work, trigger (3.5#), flawless reliability and accuracy of the 210A. I've had Swiss and German versions to compare, and was prepared to not like the American made gun.

Hello Arik, As of today I think I'm up around 400 rounds through mine. I've used Winchester 115 and 124 grain ball, Federal 115 JHP, and some Colt Defense 124 JHP made by Double Tap.

So what accuracy do you get from a rest at 25 and 50 meters? The Swiss were 50 meter guns, the German P210 Legends only 25 meter guns.

Hello Andyd, I only wish I could shoot a 50 yard group similar to those on some of my factory test targets. While I'm pleased with the accuracy of my American, German and Swiss 210s at 25 yards, I admit that I am unable to achieve the 1" or less groups at 25 that some of our better shooters can. Five shot groups at 25 of 2" or less is the best I can do with any of my 210s. The best lately was with my P210-6, 1.4". Try as I might, I'm unable to determine which of my 210s is actually the most mechanically accurate. A Ransom Rest or better shooter would be needed, then I suspect the rankings would likely change depending on what ammo a particular gun preferred.

The overall quality is what I worry about as well (esp at that price). I may wait a year or so until the initial reports come out after they’ve seen some use.

Another thing I forgot to mention that bothers me is that in this day and age they couldn't make it with an ambidextrous safety? Seriously? That kills this series completely for me.
EDIT TO ADD
I take some of my previous statement back. Apparently there may be an ambidextrous version but only in the 6 inch model but for an extra $250ish.
I'm going to channel the 3rd gen guys here and say .....why can't they just make one.....a normal one? Not target, not 6in, not 2 different sizes WITH different features? How about a 5 inch with ambi safety in a duty pistol! Not target.

I don't know Arik, Perhaps SIGs organizational culture, where the P210 is concerned, is that it is a specialty pistol of interest only to a subset of shooters. Something never envisioned to be a regular service/carry/SD,etc. pistol like their more service oriented SIGs, 1911s, CZs, Hi Powers, Glocks, etc? I know the 210 has been used for a military/police pistol in past, but it's passe for such use now days.
Much as I like the 210 series, when it comes right down to it, I've always carried something else.

The 210 started off as a issued sidearm. And has been used as such up to fairly current times. Wasn't that long ago that Switzerland and Finland drop them. Then when stop using them for their military around 2010 or so

The Danes are currently looking for a replacement for the m/49. AFAIK that is the only military where the P210 is still in service.
