Default ANOTHER CHEAP GUN THREAD..Zastava M57

I can't post pics but I sure would like too.
The Zastava M57 arrived today and I picked it up.
Packed in cosmoline. So much the slide stay back on it's own.
7.62x25. Classic Firearms $199.99.

Got it home and field stripped it also removing the grip panels.
Soaked it in gas for a hour, wiped down and a liberal spray of
Break Free then reassembled.
Looks like it was never fired, holstered or issued. This isn't a hand select. Beautiful finish. Numbers matching.

If you want to see pics message me and I'll text or email you.
I am impressed with this gun.

The 7.62x25 (surplus) ammo was readily available 4 or 5 years ago. I'm not sure but think it has dried up. Although commercial is available. Be ready to see about a foot long flame shoot out the end of teh barrel when you shoot it! I could not get past the grips, that were really uncomfortable for me. Every now and then, you'll see an old Norinco grip that is much more comfortable.

That was my experience too - I got one that was slathered in cosmoline, but was perfect when I cleaned it. Have fun!

What is cool about these guns from Classic is no frame or slide safeties buggered on.
A Glock like trigger and the tiny import mark is on bottom of the trigger guard. Very small and discrete.

Ordered a original smooth faced trigger.

Believe this are brand new pistols for civilians, not military surplus. Grips are slightly longer, and mags hold one extra. Have the 7.62x25 and 9mm versions. Seller and Beloit sells hot rounds for this, and brass cased. Starline sells brand new cases.

The 7.62x25 is kinda fun to shoot, and makes a lot of noise. I opened up the rear sight to use the sights better. Fairly accurate, hard to find the brass.

No, these are not the new models being sold.
The trigger was modified by the Serbian factory at the request of Classic firearms to meet import regulation as Bruno stated in the un-boxing video.
And he's too big a man for me to question what he says.

Sorry I made a mistake. The ones I own have the side mounted safety, not the trigger safety. Couldn't find the unboxing vid, but the current reviews indicate a national crest on slide? Mine came with the original tagging/boxes indicating they were new pistols.

Like the Stars, can't beat these for the price. Hornady sells (or at least used to) 2 different bullets that work. A .309 90 grain xtp, and a 86 grain jacketed lrn. The xtp feeds better in the pistols owned.

Again, sorry for the mistaken identity.

Nice that they used a small import marking.
Some of the recent import markings are kind of getting crazy in size.

Neat trigger safety mechanism,,nice way of meeting the Point System regs and probably easier than the re-design they did originally that added the thumb safety.

Never owned a Tokarev ,,did have a CZ-52 for a while. That was fun ball of fire to shoot,,,and another 'Good Cheap Gun' at the time!

Very good shooters. I have shot ww2 surplus machine ammo from mine! Penetrates 5/8 steel plate at 30 yards. I also cast bullets and handload the cartridge.

Just looked this up, and I have to say that's a nice way to implement the mandatory safety. Seems like it's easily replaceable with the correct trigger if you want, and there's no disfiguring of the frame or slide.

I have a Norinco T54 in 9mm that's a nice shooter, and I really wish that cheap safety wasn't there.

I had a few at one point. Sold them all. Should have probably kept one as an example. Back when bought my first one, a Polish M48, in 2001 surplus ammo was dirt cheap. 72 round boxes were around $7 - $10. Was fun shooting

I have a M57, bought it about 5 years ago. Bought a case of ammo at the same time for about $90. It has a 1911 thumb style safety and is a ball to shoot. Great for winter trips out back because there is no brass chasing involved. I may shoot it today.

Nothing to be sorry about zeke.
I looked at the video from Classic for the gun and it wasn't the unboxing. DUH on my part.

The crest is pretty cool. Top of slide in front of rear sight.
Glad they didn't grind it off.
Bought a spare mag, surplus ammo and holster from them too.
Found online & ordered a T-33 trigger from RTG Parts.

I have one from when they were first offered. These are c&r military surplus pistols. It’s unissued in the box still unshot. The speedy 7.62x25 tokarev round goes thru bp vests.
