Default Beretta 92fs question

Found this Beretta 92fs vertec at LGS and thought it was a good deal for a little over 400 otd. Looks to have been carried a lot and shot a little from holster wear on safety and slide near muzzle. Question I have is what do I have? When I look up serial number on Beretta sight it shows two different dates, 2004 w/o Z suffix and 1995 with. Any Beretta guys out there able to help me, do I have a LE turn in or a demo or a Fluke? Thanks in advance.

I can't read the serial number. looks like BER880307 Z?

I can tell you right now that's it's not a Vertec though.

EVERYTHING you want to know about your Beretta 92fs is here 2.2 Beretta 92 Series Pistols (Includes 96/98) - FAQs and Facts - Beretta Forum

I hope this helps! Great gun! Enjoy!

That looks like a civilian version of the M9, with the tell tale straight dustcover.

Nice gun. Keep the rails greased and a little oil on the locking block. Replace the recoil spring and it should go 10s of thousands of rounds no problem.

Vertecs were marked appropriately 92 F Vertec. And Vertecs had a straight backstrap no curve at all.

Thanks for help. If I looked at info on link you gave me correctly, it was made approx 2004 and z suffix means frame was made in Italy and final assembly was done in U.S. Will replace recoil spring and give her a go at the range.

I saw vertec at $400 and I thought “good deal”. Vertecs weren’t made for that long and they are more expensive. I bought mine about 4 years ago for $725 LNIB. But as has already been pointed out, the vertec has a straight backstrap, plus an accessory rail, and a slightly shorter barrel. The sights are also dovetailed.

I’ve had a bunch of 92’s. Shouldn’t have sold my all INOX one or my M9 marked one. But the vertec feels way better in my hand so it’s the one I have left.

Nice! I have a 1985 92F with factory walnut grips. Made in Italy. A pair of Beretta walnut grips will really dress it up. Smoothest semi auto I have ever shot. You won't be disappointed.
