Default New Alaskan

Yep, I did it. Been wanting one for years and I feel like a kid on Christmas morning.... just had to show it off..

And yes, it's all what it's made up to be.

(and yes it came with a serial number... )

IT'S A BEAST

Very cool. I know that feeling. I bought a Super RedHawk with last years tax refund. Might do the same thing this year. New Alaskan

I'm definitely going to impulse buy an Alaskan one of these days. They are pretty much ridiculous, which really appeals to me.

Now you need to put it to the use Ruger intended. A fishing trip in the remote wilds of our 49th state. If you need a camp cook, drop me a PM. It has been to many years since I lived there to act as a guide. I would think things have changed.

Man, you know that sounds so tempting... I will give that some thought.

I have an Alaskan in .44 mag. I don't shoot it much--in fact, exactly 62 rounds in 5 years--but I'm glad I own it. Every once in a while, I get an urge to thin the herd and think I should get rid of the Alaskan. I pull it out of the safe and fondle it a bit, and then realize that I can't let it go. I'm not sure why. But still, glad I own it! Congrats on yours too!

I went Alaskan before Alaskans were cool!

Actually, I traded a friend out of this after he had the barrel bobbed to 2.75".

It's a handful with my "bear buster" 300 gr. XTP/H110 load, but with a reduced load (200 gr. DEWC/800X), it's akin to shooting a .38 Special, in accuracy as well.

Shoot a few light ones in yours, you'll see what I mean. It could just become one of your favorites!

I bought an Alaskan some years ago...intended to use it for front pocket carry. Never could find the darn thing in my pocket, so I traded it for something bigger.

Just kidding. I did own an Alaskan...I never carried it though. It was a beast! It was a .44 Mag but I only put .44 Specials in it. Very nice shooter.

Congratulations!

I can’t say I see the magic in that thing but if it makes you feel like a kid on Christmas morning, it’s there somewhere!

Congratulations on your new sixgun.

Looking forward to some range time. I've gotten my rounds mixed up, can someone help me?

Ya know...this is one of those guns that really has no purpose whatsoever. But it looks cool. Cool is good. I will probably find myself in a situation one day where the lines of having enough un-dedicated funds intersect with "look a Ruger Alaskan for sale" and I will own one

And that's the thing, it's the cool factor plus I like shooting big guns... There was one a couple of years ago in my LGS for $600 that looked to be in good shape. Kicked myself for not buying it, so if you see one in good shape for a decent price, grab it! I traded for this one.

To me it's one of those guns you say to guests, hey you wanna see something neat?

PS- I also own another really useful gun... shockwave...that should tell you something.

Well in that case I would pull out the 9.5" barrel one rather than the Alaskan.
