Default A couple engraved knives, since I can't afford engraved guns :)

I've recently started getting into knives after several trips to the Antique Arms and Knife show in Vegas. Custom knives are an interesting game as there are so many makers out there that it's hard to know what has any real value and what doesn't. However, if you pay attention you can start seeing who knows what they're doing and who doesn't.

So far, I've chosen to focus a bit more attention on makers that have passed as their work is very similar to classic S&W's with limited quantities available. Anyhow, as the title states, engraved guns are a little out of my league for now so engraved knives seem to fill the niche for me a little bit.

Here's a couple knives from now passed Knife Makers Guild members Steve Fecas and Ron Gaston. Both men lived in South Carolina and I understand were good friends. They are both engraved by long time engraver Fred Harrington. Would love to find an S&W engraved by him, but not finding much info about if he is still engraving or if any S&W's exist engraved by him.

Anyway, enjoy the pics.

Very nice! I really like classically engraved things, guns, knives, pocket watches, whatever. That Gaston knife is just about perfect in my eyes. Thanks for sharing.

EYE POPPINGLY Beautiful Knives!!! And Great Photos as well. Thank you for sharing!!!

Daniel:

I too would love to see a S&W engraved by either of the two engravers (Fred Harrington or Wm Bennett). The work is well executed and very pleasing to the eye.

My only engraved knife came with a DJ-engraved Texas Ranger Commemorative Model 19-3:

There are a lot of creatures, objects, and people inhabiting the scroll work - a trademark of Domingos Joaquim engraving. Resulting in the knife perfectly complementing the gun.

I love them as well but have never figured out how to post pics on here in spite of the fact that I have been posting on here for years! My brother John passed away two years ago from fighting Parkinson's for 20 years. He lived on Marthas Vineyard and was one of the top builders there. He became first a commercial knife collector in the 80's to early 90's and then got into customs. He traveled to knife shows all over the country and was very well known in the knife collector world. He took me to several shows with him.
Before he died, he and his wife consigned many expensive customs to reduce the collection down and to provide for his wife.
When all was said and done, he left me the remainder of his collection of commercial knives and about 100 customs, built and engraved by some of the best in the business. They are true art work.
