Default Removal of Transfer Bar safety Ruger Flattop

I recently purchased a Ruger Flattop in excellent condition with nice stags plus the original grips. The down side for me is that it has the transfer bar safety conversion done which I would like to have removed if possible. Does anyone know if there is a gunsmith who does this and has the parts to put the gun back to original?????

What don't you like about the transfer bar? Doesn't that mean you can now load a full cylinder with no risk? Does it mess up the trigger in some way?

You need to go to the Ruger Forum and ask about buying the original parts. They are not cheap if you can find them.
I hear what you say about the conversion,it is hard to get a good trigger pull with the conversion kit in the revolver. Not saying it is impossible just not easy.
I had one converted years ago and the trigger and action was just not what I had before that was changed.

The best single action trigger I have seen on a blackhawk was on a new model with the transfer bar, it actually rivals a good S&W single
action let off. You might consider trigger work with the transfer bar
in place. If a clean let off is your main concern, if you simply want
the original configuration then good luck in your quest for parts.

I had a couple Vaqueros tuned for Cowboy Action competition. Of course they had the transfer bar, but a good smith took the triggers to 2.5 pounds and very smooth. So that can be done.

A 3 screw needs to be original. For those that want to load all six, buy a New Model. Parts are out there and it is not difficult to reinstall them. Good luck in your search. Old Models with Stags are beautiful pistols. Congrats.

Post a WTB on the Ruger Forum dot com and there are several guys such as Jussbad or Westerville or several others that may well have sets. You need to specify if your flat top is a 357 midsized gun or the larger 44 mag gun as the hammers are different heights. The parts swap is pretty easy to do if you know what your are doing.

Gary Reeder in Flagstaff Arizona does some great work with Ruger single actions.

It's a easy job if you have the parts. Hundreds of guys busted
their butts to get their Rugers fitted with the transfer bar. Back
then Ruger returned the original parts with gun. I've gathered
up and used up all the ones I knew guys had. There has to be
a lot of them in gun case drawers around the country. I suppose
a good Smith can work wonders with new model triggers but
the old 3 screws were easy to stone if you weren't satisfied
with factory trigger. Blackhawks are easy to work on, no many
parts and no special tools needed( old Models).

I don't care so much about the trigger as I do putting it back to original condition. I have owned a couple of early flattops without the transfer bar installed as well as several Colt Single Actions. I just prefer the original actions.
