Just got back to the hotel after attending the Tulsa show. Arrived about 8 am and walked right in, no line and free parking.

I was looking for a Browning BPCR, a Remington 513-S rifle and S&W N frame revolvers that were more than 50 years old so I could purchase with my C&R ffl.

I saw 2 513-s rifles but both were priced at more than I wanted to pay one was $1000 and the other was $700.

I did not see any older S&W N frames that seemed reasonably priced. I saw lots of 28-2s at $800 and up. No model 27-2s or earlier less than $1200. There were two pre 29s, one was $4100 and I think the other was $3695.

I did find a Browning BPCR 45-70 in like new condition priced at $1375 which I purchased for $1250 out the door.

The bad thing was the NICS was down and had to wait around about 2 hours for it to come back up.

This is a huge show, it took me about 6 hours to quickly cover the whole thing. If you haven't been it is quite an experience.

What about "Cowboy" guns (ie Winchesters, SSAs and such) and old Military guns? What were prices like on things like that if you had a mind to look?

I went looking for a Browning Hi Power and came home with a 10mm S&W, I swear I don't know how that happened . Guess the Hi Power will have to wait a few more months. Saw lots of prices ranging from decent to what are they thinking.

I noticed that 1903 Springfields and Winchester model 1894 rifles were priced higher than I was willing to pay. Springfields were from $800 (for beaters) to $2500 and model 1894s $1100 and up for rifles and SRCs. I did see a model 64 Winchester 219 zipper with a bolt peep for $3150, thought this might be a bargain but wasn't sure. I didn't notice the prices on Colt SAAs.

What kind of shape was the cheaper 513 S in?
I would think that might be a decent price on that seldom seen rifle.

ralph7 - The cheaper 513-s was in very nice shape with no alterations and had a receiver sight. I was actually looking for one that had been drilled for a scope mount as I want one of these to squirrel hunt with. I did notice several Winchester model 75 sporters that were in nice shape for $825 and slightly more.

All I came home with is a Ruger calendar. Even at the Tulsa gun show, almost everything falls into three categories for me.

1. Stuff I'm not interested in. I really don't need to look closely at a table full of Glocks to know I can pass on by.

2. Stuff I already have. Seems like the best deals are on guns that I already have, and I'm trying to break myself from buying multiples (unless there's a good reason!)

3. Stuff I can't afford. If I could afford it, it'd already be in category 2.

Then there's the rare category 4: Stuff I didn't know I needed until I saw it. That's my favorite!

got back to SC late last night. Had a good time, nothing spectacular in the way of finds. Bought a 1958 browning SA in NICE orig condition for $750. Found a new nickel kit gun, no box. Cheap enough to buy, but won't make any money on it. Traded for a 8 3/8" K22 that I was looking for. Found a nice pre 27 3 1/2", alway looking for those. Bought a really nice 19-3, but flipped it to pay for the table. Sold a full target K22 boxed from 1955. Good show all around. Did notice prices were higher this time, but dealers taking offers. Enjoyed seeing all the S&W guys at the show and the SW BBQ. Thanks for all who helped put this on.

I think a lot of the nice guns get sold on dealer day on Friday.

Individual seller tables are still where you usually find the most reasonable deals.

If it's in a big fancy glass case, all lit up, I don't even stop. Invariably too high priced for me.

What do the FFL's normally charge for transfer's ?

I asked two different FFLs just that question. Both charged $25 for transfers.
