Anyone Else Like Lever Action Rifles Here!
Been starting a small collection of lever guns and they are a different kind of shooting fun.The Henry's have a smooth action that's easy on the fingers like butter. So far I have a Silver Eagle 22lr.and a Big Boy Brass in .357/38 special.Took my Henry .357 camping earlier this month camping and I just loved it.In the future I will be looking for a Rossi-92 in .357 just because but they are hard to find NIB.I would say they a pretty much ban proof years from now or way in the future. Some come in more powerful calibers that can pack a powerful wallop.

I right fond of lever guns. Got about a half dozen in my safe ranging from .22 up to .45-70. Four Winchesters, a Rossi and a Browning. I'm particularly fond of the 16" Trapper models. They're slick and very fast handling.

I only have a Marlin 336BL in .30-30.
I like the big loop and the 18.5" barrel. It shoots nice and with the Buffalo Bore 190 GR. JFN ( Item 28A) I don't feel undergunned, even with large(r) predators.

I love the vintage lever action deer rifles of earlier generations, particularly the Savage Model 99 although I don't own any for the moment. I have a Marlin, pre-safety in .35 Remington and a Winchester 88 in cal. 308. While I've heard some people compare the Model 88 to 2X4s and railroad ties, I find the gun handles easily and can hold its own against most bolt action rifles. My Model 88 can do three rounds under a nickel at 100 yards.

I've got four marlins 39As and Ms, and a Rossi 92 in 357. The Marlins are all very nice, although I like the long barrel pistol grip the best.

I LOVE MARLIN LEVER GUNS. THEY HAVE BEEN MY PRIMARY LONG GUN FOR 60 YEARS. I HAVE A SMALL COLLECTION OF ABOUT 10, ENCOMPASSING CALIBERS IN .22LR, .22WRFM, .30-30, AND TOPPED OFF WITH A GUIDE GUN IN .45-70. THEY ARE ALL GREAT SHOOTERS....
I GRAVITATED TO MARLINS BECAUSE OF THE SIDE EJECTION, AND THE ACCURACY OF THEIR "MICRO-GROOVE" .22 CALIBER BARRELS....
AS OF LATE, I HAVE COME TO APPRECIATE THE HENRY RIFLES. I AM TRYING VERY HARD, TO RESIST YET ANOTHER ADDICTION.......
(SORRY FOR THE LACK OF PICS)

I like lever guns, I have three right now I enjoy shooting. Two Rossi 92's in .357 and .44 Magnum caliber, and a somewhat worn 1972 vintage Model 94 Winchester.
Rossi 92 in .44 Magnum with a Ruger Super Blackhawk:
Winchester 94 on cabin front porch duty, with hound:

There has been trouble speculated in the world of Rossi's Brazil manufacturing operation. CEO's only last a short time, production relocates, slashes to the catalog selection and then those limited choices are unavailable. Perhap's we have seen the last of the NIB Rossi 92s.

I see you put a Skinner site on yours.it seems it's working, your target looks good.I was thinking about getting one.I took a few minutes to adjust my buckhorn sites before I blew some spoiled apples off an old log I had them on.
The first time I shot it was when I went camping out in the middle of Nevada a few weeks ago.

My Rossi 92 357 was new in box and has 2017 stamped on the receiver. They are out there but in very very limited numbers. I won't lie I had to pay full retail when I finally did find one but even so it was much cheaper than a miroku Winchester. It's accurate and it functions flawlessly.
I don't know what state Rossi is in right now. I heard that they were consolidating manufacturing plants and should have more production in 2018. Who knows what will actually happen though

Hah! Yeah - only ones I have in the house.... I used to have a Browning BL-22, but it really never bonded, so it was traded in for part of the 1885.

A MARLIN LEVER GUN, IN ANY CALIBER, CARRYING A QUALITY SCOPE, IS A DEADLY WEAPON......
A LOW MOUNTED SCOPE DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH MARLIN'S SIDE EJECTION---AND IMHO, DOES NOT COMPROMISE THE AESTHETIC BEAUTY OF THE RIFLE....

Mid 50's M94 30-30..got this one in 1978, we have a lot of miles together.
Marlin 57 22 Magnum, this is a very early production made before the "M" was added to the model number.
Also have Marlin 336C that I got in 1973, it was NIB.

A few
Winchester 94, 30-30. One of the last ones build in the US, a real ***. The lever is like dragging a toilet plunger thru a bucket of rocks, and the trigger pull is greater than 40 pounds
Savage 99, 22-250
Marlins
1895 45-70 One of the most accurate rifles I have, not much fun to shoot though
1894cl 25-20 , just got it, ammo on the way.
Levermatic, 22 mag and 30 carbine. Both accurate, actually awsume.
I would love to find a 1894 in 218 Bee and 357 mag. A 336 219 Zipper and a levermatic in 256 mag

Is there any beer left in the can after being hit with that 45-70?
Seems like such a waste.

Levers are fun guns and loaded with nostalgia.
I have bought and sold a few over the course of time. My first few deer were taken with levers in the 1960s. Winchester 94 in .32 special got a couple and a Marlin in .35 Rem got a couple. (both long gone)
Down in the safe I have my Uncles Model 94 in .32.40 25'' barrel half mag and curved butt plate made in the late 1800s. I was given that gun in the mid 60s. Also have a 94 saddle ring carbine in 30 WCF made in 1917. Have one more modern gun a carbine in .45 Colt.

I've got 2 Winchesters: a 9422 XTR and a 94AE Legacy in .357. My son has a Henry .22. I still kick myself for passing on a beautiful Marlin in .357 years ago.

I have a Savage 99 takedown model in 250 Savage. I think mine is from the mid 20´s. Excellent rifle.
My father in law has a new Marlin 336 in 30-30, also a nice lever action

Not until recently. I bought one of the new Marlin 336W's and I couldn't be happier. It doesn't have the "grip cap" or "bullseye" of the higher end models but, it's accurate and the action in butter smooth. Love the matte blue finish too..........means not having to wipe off smudges and finger prints.

The Win model 1895
That is the gun for me. It's on my list of rifles I want, but it's not the one that I need most. Maybe one day.

Those old brass tumbler Savages are built like a swiss watch. I only have one (243) but I like it.

The better question may be "does anyone NOT like lever action guns"?

I do not like lever action rifles. I had one and sold it quickly after buying it.

Me too!
I only have a single lever-gun, a Marlin 336BL in 30-30. Stock except for a Happy Trigger and some smoothing to help prevent the notch they can develop. Shoots amazingly better than the sights. I shoot metallic silhouette (cowboy action silhouette - 200m range same as pistol met. silh.) and factory rounds out of the 16.25" barrel are same POA POI at 50, 100, 150, 200m.
I would like some peep sights. I had a go of someone's 45-70 with a 28? (long anyway) inch barrel and peeps, and it is pretty much cheating, so much easier.

This is sad - the lever action rifle is the heart and soul of the American Sportsman - and to to some degree the U.S.A. itself.
There is currently a Renaissance of the lever action rifle as evidenced by responses in not only this forum but many others and I for one am glad to see it!

Some guns are just "right." Pump shotguns, lever action rifles in a caliber that matches the sidearm in your holster, revolvers with cylinders that rotate counterclockwise. Joe

While I find that Winchester's are finished nicer, have nicer wood & bluing, I much prefer the actions and reliability of Marlins. I have both and while there is no substitute for a beautiful Winchester in your hands, I always used Marlins for CAS / SASS matches for sheer reliability and their side ejection.
As long as you stick with the Originals made in CT - neither one is a bad choice!

Mostly the Black Fantastic Plastic crowd. They don't seem to respect anything but AK's; AR's; Glocks and maybe the new M&P's!
However if you have a Levergun with a grenade launcher attached....
