Winchester Trapper w/ a question....
Picked up this Trapper this past weekend in
45 Colt. For whatever reason it was mounted with
a scope.
My question:
Anyone of you Winchester guys know the correct name
for the screws that go back into the frame/receiver.?
Many Thanks..

The parts companies call them "plug screws" too. You can find what you need on Amazon or at the various parts companies.
You might want to try an XS Ghost Ring sight; they fit the rear receiver holes.

I've always thought a scope on Trapper type rifles defeats the
purpose of them. No thing quicker for game in heavy cover with
irons or reciever sights. Of course some use scope because of
vision problems.

Hope you enjoy the Trapper/45 Colt. I bought one at a gun show NIB back in the early 90's. It's really fun with mild loads but I was in my 'gorilla' phase and had to try 300 gr Hammerheads. They will rattle your teeth!

I have one in .44 Mag which I used for CAS back in the late 90s and early 00s. I always used .44 Special handloads in it so as to get a few extra rounds in the tube. I haven't fired it for 4-5 years, and should take it out again. I bought a scope mount for it, but never installed it.
