Help with non-S&W revolver stocks ID--Ropers??
Any of you grip/stock experts have an idea what these fit and who made them? They are very well made. The round boss that goes inside of the frame is larger than a quarter and won't fit a S&W. They look like Ropers, but I'm not near enough qualified to know for sure.

Have you tried them on a Colt Official Police/Python frame?

I'm in the process of looking for one to try. I'm leaning toward the Colt, but hey, I'm a S&W guy......!

Muley Gil is right, they fit a Colt I/E-frame. As to maker, they are old Herrett's grips.

I e-mailed Herrett's last night and got this response today:
"Our current custom stock maker is not sure if the stock was made by us. She has been here since 1975, and if it was made by us it was made prior to that time. From the pictures, she said it looks to be made for a Colt Python."
Based on the "Gagne's" jig holes on the inside of them, I'm gonna go with Roper's...

Likely not ropers.
Once you see a couple sets in person you really start liking them.
Then you go and splurge for a set and hold them in your hand and for some unknown reason you start to smile.
You can just tell someone spent a lot of time making them and fitting them just for his client.
Next thing you know you have a full blown addiction.
These started my addiction.
Been on the hunt ever since.

Colt Guys-
Will those fit a New Service/1917 ??
I'm thinkin they are for a 'Fitzed' 1917.
Minimum bulk with max control.
Also,
I do not think Roper.
I think very early Herret's.

The 1917 gripframe is larger and the locating pin is at the rear or heel of the grip.
