Default Finally found my grail gun

Finally found a Browning Hi Power T series I've been looking for. The Hi Power is such a great historical gun and the bluing is just fantastic on these. Met a very nice retired ex LEO and was happy to buy it from him. My only grip is the gold inlay on the lettering. Looks great, but prefer an all original. Might try removing it if I can do it without messing the finish.

Good Luck !!

Browning HP's are starting to really go up in price. I have one I bought new in 1971 for 94.00. Maybe 150 rounds through it. Just a safe queen. i would like to find a beater

They are just classic handguns. I paid ten times what you did for yours

Nice gun! My recollection is that acetone removes the gold letter fill but I'd wait until someone tells you they are sure. Enjoy!

Yeah, but I was spending 1971 dollars. I should have gone and borrowed 5000.00 and bought the engraved model. Get this, they were 295.00 new. BUT, the difference between 295 and 94 was a big difference. Power steering was still a 25 dollar option in a car, and FM radios were an option.

The gold fill in the letters can be removed with some bore cleaner and a tooth brush.

That is very true. Guessing 40 years from now these will be priced even higher. Quite amazing technology has advanced, but the quality in guns has gone down.

The gold inlay in the lettering doesn’t last long anyway. I have two boxes of the bonzana gold inlay kits. From the late 70’s.

Really nice "T" series (looks like late "T" model in the transitional years 1969-1973 to the "C" model ?). And congrats on purchasing the finest 9mm pistol ever created

Very nice looking find, hope you enjoy it!

Is it real gold? If so, the bore cleaner or Mothers Aluminum polish should work. If it’s crayon (some folks do this) try WD-40, and/or a little heat.

Acetone and a toothbrush will remove the gold inlay. It will require some elbow grease. It will not harm the finish.
