I have BIG mitts, and I can't think of one factory standard S&W revolver stock that fits either of my hands well. The kicker is this: I love I and J-frames.
Karl Nill Centennial grips on any of my contemporary Centennial style J-frames is the best I've ever felt.
Craig Spegel's full size square butt grips on an exposed hammer I or J-frame are about equal to the Karl Nill Centennial.
S&W combats on an exposed hammer J-frame are close, too.
I have taught myself to like a Tyler T-grip extender on J & K-frame magna grips.
Here's a surprise. Craig Spegel boot grips on a Baby Chiefs. Craig used his Baby as a model to make these for me; they're not his standard J-frame boots due to the ⅛" shorter grip frame (should these be called booties?). I should get the Chiefs these will go on back from my smith soon so I'll post a photo of the Baby along side a larger Chiefs when I get it.

Colt 1911
SIG 1911 Ultra Compact
1903 Colt
The characteristics of these three are a bit different, but they fit me well with the 1903 being somewhat ergonomically stellar.

Of the pistols I own I'd pick a 1911 with long trigger, flat msh, and Pachmayrs, or my Smith N frame with these finger groove smoothies.
One of the pistols I don't have any more but fit like it was made for me was a Gen 3 Glock 21 full size model.

John D. Pedersen hit it out of the ball park with this one as far as ergonomics is concerned. He did wooden mockups of many different grips and passed them around to hundreds of people to pick the one that most found fit them. He done good. It points so well that policemen back in the day called it "the steel finger." This one fits me perfectly. The Smith Model 39 does come close, though.

Almost Forgotten Autos
The old Walther P-38 has always felt smooth and wonderful to me, closely followed by Browning HP. Sig's are next. They all just feel buttery smooth with no lumps. Current M&P autos with double stack, fat mags are pretty much the same, but not single stack Shields. I like S&W wheelguns better to shoot, but for me only K-frames with smooth target grips approach the comfort of my favorite old autoloaders above. I guess I just like smooth. I like 1911's but never picked one up that didn't have a ridge or bump somewhere that felt like a piece of toolwork, not a contoured grip.

Of the handguns I've held, my K frame fitted with CT laser grips probably feels the most natural for me to hold. A close second (maybe even two first places) would be my SD9ve. I know that's a strange choice but it's one of the reasons I bought it. It just felt right as soon as I picked it up.

My model 19-4 fits my hand very well. Herrett's Jordan Patrol
stocks are the reason. They are made to fit the hand.
A good fit helps with accuracy as well.

I like anything with a double stacked magazine such as Hi Power, CZ75, S&W59, etc. and really like double stacked magazine in .45 cal. such as SAR K2-45 Semi Auto Pistol. I totally avoid any of the cut down, reduced size handguns as I can not hold them. Revolvers don't even enter the picture!

The first time I shot a HP was in 1968, the minute I picked it up, I thought it was customed made for me.

In the Pick Below
#1 is the S&W 686-4 (Middle Right)
#2 is the Walther PPS M2 LE (Top Left)
#3 is the SA 1911 Range Officer (Bottom Left)
(The S&W M&P 9mm was replaced with a Glock 19 Gen 4, to have a handgun to share mags with my Ruger PC Carbine, and have added a S&W M&P Bodyguard 380 since pic)

Craig Spegel's Boot Grips and Extended Boot grips........ add any S&W J,K,L or N frame and I'm Good to Go.
Autos..... Browning HP with Spegel or Hogue grips, S&W 39, the newer Beretta 92s with the relieved backstrap.

#1: S&W M41
#2: Colt 1911A1 (arched mainspring) with long trigger
Dead last: pretty much any factory wood stocks on revolvers. They may be nice to look at, but nearly impossible to grip and actually shoot. Even the wood JM stocks on the 625 are better.

I bought a High Standard target .22 pistol from a gun shop in Reading, PA that had a set of Herrett grips on it. If you pick that gun up, those grips don't want to let go.

There are a number of gun/grip combinations that fit me well, including some 1911 configurations, BHP, K round with Pachmayr Compac, and Ruger and Colt .22 autos. Many others are quite acceptable, and I probably also neglected to list a few other really great ones.
Perhaps the most noticeable are the Rogers/Safariland (or the identically-shaped original Rogers) grips for the square-butt K frame. They not only fit my hand well, they place the sights exactly where they are supposed to be. Unmatched.

You sure threw a Hard, fast, curve ball that, hit me between the eyes, by asking that question! After an enjoyable afternoon of trying "the feel" of all of my hand gun types, and styles, many times over, I discovered, that they "All" fit my hand just great. That is when I told myself, "Why you Dummy", "There's a reason for that". If a hand gun came to me with grips that didn't feel exactly right, I replaced the offending grips, with ones that did feel exactly right to me. So, in reality, after trying my S&W revolvers, from the J frames to the N frames, and all of my Colt 1911 models, and spread all of all of this "bologna", I can't give you a straight answer, as all, of my hand guns, have been made, to fit my hands, just right.

You know. I know a fellow who was always filing the grips of is target pistols to better fit his hand. One day in our service pistol event, where we use the Luger and cannot alter anything in the pistols. I told him. You're toast. You'll have to file your hand.

Over all I guess my P30 is best followed by P229 then 5903 and Beretta 92fs Centurion and then my FNP40 and lastly my P6 that doesn't mean I don't cary the P6 because I carry it a lot I just fine the grip a little short.

The only guns that stand out that I don't really like the feel:
1. Single Action Army/Cowboy style revolvers, even though I love the looks and history.
2. Any gun with Glock type grip angle, including the Ruger Standard .22 pistol and Colt Woodsman.
3. Derringers, even though I think they're kinda cool.

No matter from where it is, in my waistband or on the table, when I put a 1911 in my hand it is ready to go without any adjustment.

The Walther PPK/S fits my hand well, add a proper pair of wood grips and a magazine with a pinky rest and it fits like a glove.

Of the handguns I have fired my TriStar T120 with Hogue wraparound grips fits me best. Second is probably the P226. 1911 (also with Hogue wraparounds) would be in third place.

I've got quite a few different semiautos, and I have to agree with these posts.
The CZ 75 just seems to nestle perfectly into my hand. And the Star BM, for whatever reason, also just fits in perfectly.
Both are extremely comfortable not just to hold, but to point and shoot. I say "point" instead of aim, because i don't seem to have to aim actively to be on target with these. This separates from a lot of the others, that are comfortable too, but don't necessarily point as well. I guess it's a combination of grip and balance to the guns. Both seem to have the mass concentrated into your hand, with the slide floating out in a natural manner where it should.

When it comes to autos, the Sig 1911 and P series fit me best. For DA revolvers, my 686-4 with Hogues is my best match, with my 66-3 RB snubby with Tyler T Adapter a close second. Right now, I'm looking for a good set of wood grip panels for my Ruger SA Vaquero. The original black plastic grips have sharp edges that dig into my gun hand.

Way back around 1972 a S/SGT handed an 18 year old soldier a 1911A1 and gave me all of about 2 minutes of instruction on how it worked. I had never fired a handgun before in my life. Yet, it fit so well that I qualified Expert.

Semi: M39 stock wood grips.
Revolver: Colt Lawman MkIII round butt with service stocks and Tyler T-Grip. This snubby handles .357 loads better than my N-Frames for control and recovery. Go figure.
For a brief time I carried the 39 on my belt and the Colt in a shoulder holster. I was never better armed.

Square butt K-frame with magnas and a T-grip--four-inch barrel preferred for balance--or a J-frame with Pachmayr Compacs. I carry the latter.

Revolver: SB N frame with magnas and a t-grip. Feels like it belongs in my hand.
That said, I don't have any pics of mine with the compact grip, but the factory rubber GP100 compact grip with the wood inlays is damn close to perfect.
Interestingly (to me), my RB N frames are much more of a struggle to find a grip I like. This is the current config on my favorite CCW. I haven't shot it yet with these stocks, but for some reason the Altamont RB magnas were tearing my thumb up pretty bad. I only shoot 44 SPL or light magnums in this gun, so I'm not worried about recoil.
Semi: I've always thought a 1911 was about as good as it gets, but the Hi Power I got a few months back has probably taken to top spot when it comes to ergos. That said, I do dislike the safety on it quite a bit, so maybe the 1911 is still the winner.
I need to find less obnoxious grips for this. I know the internet commandos will tell you Para is junk, but this gun has been very close to perfect for the last 2+ years and is my primary non-revolver CCW. The gripsize, safety, and trigger are just about perfect for my hand. The BHP has a slight advantage because its a bit more round of a grip, but like I said the tiny safety bugs me a lot.

Man ya beat me to it.... I carried a K9 for a number of years and yeah. I'd say it had a near perfect fit/feel in my hand.
