Ruger Redhawk .45acp/45 LC
Anybody have one of these? Any thoughts? Saw a brand new one on another forum site for $700.00 and am tempted....

Buy it. I will be an enabler. I own one, quite happy with mine. Dual cartridge revolvers have alway appealed to me. I cast several different bullets for the 45 Colt and the acp. The Redhawk was the second big bore Ruger I have bought in the last two years. IMO it has a good trigger, and is plenty accurate with my loads. Plus, it will handle the heavier 45 Colt loads that easily put it in the magnum class if you choose. That is a good price for a new gun. I carry mine in a simply rugged pancake.

Yes, an excellent price for a new gun. I paid $825+ for mine. Built like the proverbial tank. You can jazz the 45 Colts up to near thermo-nuclear range or shoot the ACPs. FWIW Hogue now offers grips for the round butt Redhawk. My only gripe was the factory stocks didn’t fit flush of the frame. A trip to the factory fixed that and they threw in a set of FO sights for my trouble. I doubt you’ll find one cheaper. If you want it, get it.

Great price. I paid 775 for mine. Shoots 45LC good,45ACP not so good and 45 Mag great. Love it. Winchester 45 Mag brass spreads the moon clips so you have to cut them in twos. Underwood 45 Mag does not spread the clips.

Gary, I think you might like this write-up and the illustrative photos attached:
Ruger’s Redhawk 45 Auto – 45 Colt | Real Guns - A Firearm and related publication
Personally, I would have expected accuracy issues with the .45 ACP from that gun (and I recall having read at least one review that found them), but the Real Guns review sure didn't find any. I have an engineer friend who encouraged me to pick up one of these (figuring the ACP would serve me well around the house while the .45 Colt would work as a hiking load), and I was tempted . . . I probably would have gone for it if I didn't already have John LeVick's old 625-3 with the 3" barrel.

I don't own one yet, but that's most likely going to be my next firearm. It's a beautiful revolver with the ability to shoot 2 different rounds loaded all the way to the top, so what's not to like?
Personally, I would sooner buy one new since there's no way to inspect it and I'm paranoid when it comes to buying used firearms after hearing too many horror stories from folks who bought used firearms online, but if you have no issue with that, and confirm that it's in at least LNiB condition, then $700 is a steal seeing as they run closer to $850-900 NiB.

I do not have one yet, but my dad who is 78 bought one, and I got to shoot it with both 45c and 45acp on a couple different occasions.
I like it, and wouldn't mind adding one to my safe.
My dad really enjoys it!
Good luck with your decision! Ron

Be advised that the RedHawks take a different moon clip than Colt and S&W.

It’s on my list to go with my other RedHawks. I have the 357, 41 mg and 44 mag already.

Ruger has tremendous brand equity. Even if you decide to 'test drive', you could still probably get most of your money back on it. So, you shoot it for a few years and enjoy the heck out of it and you might get $ 75.00 less--a cheap rental.
In summation: buy it now!
