Default Gunshow Marlin 1939

Found this marlin 1939 , first year of the 39A. Action was the smoothest I have ever worked. Opened it up and it was pack FULL of cosmoline.

Traded a 1st yr 4 digit boxed k22 for it.

Charlie

I'd have laid out cash and kept the Smith, but whatever.....it's a very nice rifle indeed.

I did it the other way around. Traded a 1939 Marlin for a S&W. Was happy with my trade. Hope you will be with yours.

Nice indeed!! Love the color case and bet that action is still nice and tight. Good score. If only they were all built like that today.

Very Nice, Charlie's! Plus, you seem to be able to find 4 digit K22's all the time.

Just look at the grain in that wood! The whole gun is beautiful. I think you made a good bargain.

Personally I think you STOLE IT! The Smith can be replaced but that Marlin in THAT CONDITION (sort of assuming it's original) would be a very difficult task. I think you came out way on top!!

Default As Usual!

You did really well, not many around like that except those you were in company with last week-end! Is it for sale?

That’s a beauty for sure. I have a 1st year also only it was rebarreled with a micro groove barrel. And the action is the slickest of any of my marlin lever actions. Congrats

Very nice! Mine is new, 1954, and not as fancy.

Probably take it out for a little exercise, but I have a nice 1954 (also) to shoot. I'll admire it for now.

I own my dad's that is an earlier one than yours. Model 39 and has the case coloring, octagonal barrel as well an a 4 digit serial number. But I have to say, those stocks look brand new! A very nice Marlin for sure.

Beautiful rifle - one that many people would give much more than you parted with to own. Only the early 39As retained the case-hardening of the earlier versions.

I have only one Marlin - it's also a 39A, vintage of 1951. A previous owner had customized it into a real work of art, and I'm proud to own it now.

Congrats!

John
