I don't have a real answer to O P,s question on favorite. If I had to answer that on the "fly" it would be what ever I am carrying. And that's not his question. Of the 8 thats in my collection. 7 have all had a bunch of carrying time at some point. Since I retired it's been alot of the IWB larger calibers. My working days where alot of companys that where not pro carry so that kept me at .32, .380, .38 (442) or 9mm (Lc9). But my IWB xds 45 or M&P 40c get most time now

My favorite EDC ( as opposed to on duty in uniform) is a small 1911, either the Springfield EMP 9MM or Kimber Ultra Aegis .38 Super.

I've been carrying my M&P 40 compact for over three years. It holds 11 rounds of .40 caliber goodness and can be pocket carried. I've looked and looked for an even better concealed carry pistol ever since I bought it, and I still have yet to find one that has the combination of small size, larger caliber, excellent accuracy and reliability, and double-digit capacity. I'll continue to look, but any replacement will have to be really, really good. The new 2.0 M&P 3.6" 40 compact looks promising, with its 14 round capacity, but I'll need to find one to shoot before I buy. So far, they're few and far between. My range has none to rent, and Grab-A-Gun doesn't even list them on their website.

I have carried a revolver for the last 6 years. Started carrying the LCR 357 but now carry a Charter Bulldog 44 spl. After shooting the 44 spl I really don't care for 357 or 38 or 9mm. The Bulldog 44 spl can provide a big bite. The gun isn't heavy and has a very decent trigger also.

I pocket carry in a Mika a 642. I am 70 and in fair shape except for arthritis in both thumbs. Going to have to find something similar size but more to 22 to 25 oz to absorb some of the recoil. Hate to do it but the Colt Cobra is looking pretty good. If the 642 weighed about 8 to 10 oz more...

For guys who've posted about liking Beretta's check out the new g-10 ultra-thin grips from VZ and/or Wilson Combat for full size or compacts.

They really slim down the grip feel....... I've been a Beretta fan since 1988 with my first 92F Compact!

My "favorite" carry gun is actually a Beretta 92FS Compact Type-M; single stack 8+1 , 9mm. With the compact length 4.25 barrel and slide and single stack butt it's about the size of a Colt Commander. Mine is a bit tricked out;built on a Beretta S style frame it has a round trigger guard, de-horned and refinished with a reverse two tone look with a matt steel cerakote frame, night sights and stippled KSD walnut grips from Turkey. It gets a lot of fall and winter carry............in a Milt Sparks Summer Special holster.

But it's not the most practical for every day concealed carry in my "Burb of the Burgh"; so my most often carried is a S&W 3913NL with Hogue checkered wood grips; which I like almost as much as the Beretta.

My favorite and most carried gun is my 4513TSW. The original version made from 97 to 99. Blessedly rail free and 6+1 45acp. Thin, light weight, accurate and bet your life reliable. Mine has never malfunctioned to date. A joy to carry all day.

Nine is fine, but 45 is final.

Though I carry an S&W Shield 9mm a lot I carry this Colt Cobra most of the time. It's a real Cobra not the new one which is really a Detective Special.

For me, these two are my favorites, my 3953 and 642.

Both were purchased, as new; the 3953 in 1991 (or so), and the 642 in 1997 (or so).

I've tried a few others, through the years, but I always come back to these two.

More likely than not the Shield 40 is on my belt. From time to time a Colt Commander 45 finds its way there. Just picked up a Kahr CW9, might have to put that in once in a while too, sure like the feel of that little guy.

I used to carry 642 and kept 640 in the safe. I recently switched to carrying my 640 and the 642 is in the safe because I'm more accurate with the 640.

I have been giving this one a try.....it is fantastically accurate and fits my hand well. It also seems devoid of and sharp edges. It just disappears in the Kramer scabbard.

And I think that all the big loose Hawaiian print shirts are super fashionable too

It has had some love in the past, so I am not worried about any little dings such from carrying.....and to be entirely truthful, the Kramer leather really distributes the weight well.....it isn't a 340sc, but it is one fine piece of engineering.

Since posting this, I've pretty much switched over to a Beretta PX4 Compact. It works really well for me. Fits my hand well, it's reliable, it shoots well for me, and the controls are all in the same place as my beloved Beretta 92FS. The one downside was the slick grip frame, but a set of Talon Grips fixed that. I've done a few things to it, and now it's just about ideal for me. Right now I'm using a JM Kydex IWB3 holster and mag pouch, but I'm waiting on a Kramer IWB #3 I recently ordered.

I like it so much I'm hoping to buy another one before year's end. *fingers crossed*

Daytime it's the HK USP 45C loaded with Buffalo Bore 185 gr Barnes. Nite it's a Sig 239/CT laser grip with DoubleTap 115gr Barnes 357 Sig. If I want concealability it's the Lady Smith 3913, 90gr Barnes. Ultra concealability I have a Seecamp 32 acp Gold Dots. If I'm in a bad mood, a Glock 20/5 1/2" with 155gr DoubleTap Barnes.

Regardless of what the “experts “ will tout online, the trigger has been improved—much less “staging”.

The winner is the 9mm Glock 17 Generation 5. The previous generations are nice. But, they are paperweights by comparison.

This is only issue gun that I would buy if we changed to something else. Yes... it’s not a .45. But, with the right ammo, no one will ever know the difference.

For decades I have been most comfortable with a full-size 1911 .45 pistol, and for the past 15 years or so the Kimber Custom CDP was my choice for daily use.

Over the past year I have undergone shoulder surgery to repair rotator cuff, with additional damage to the bursa and biceps tendon caused by bone spurs and arthritis, and am now being treated for ulnar neuropathy that, coupled with osteoarthritis, has made it a challenge to handle semi-auto pistols (especially those with heavy recoil springs). Most days now I have reverted to those days back in the 1970's when the revolver was king of the cop market, and find that my old 2" Model 64 RB .38 Special (retired police department weapon) is not only much easier to handle, but I seem to retain all the old muscle memory necessary to shoot it effectively.

OP's question was "favorite carry gun". My point is that sometimes a favorite must be set aside and a "next best" selected for practical purposes.

It's a 640-3 for me.

I front pocket carry in a holster I made to keep the grip exposed. I always wear my shirt tail out and it covers well.

It carries so comfortably that I sometimes have to double check to make sure I have it with me.
