Default Help Identify - Colt Grip, S&W Look-alike?

Colt medallions, Colt screw, S&W magna grip profile, and holes that look like Colt orientation. Tried them on an old Colt Army Special and they did not fit that I/E Frame. Inside looks like they have been mounted on something in the past. (They have been stripped - were coated in a thick (and dirty) "varnish" that definitely did not look like a factory finish, since it was splashed all over the medallions). Any help identifying them?

Just a guess, but I think they probably fit the later D frames (Det. Spl, Diamond Back, etc.) with the short grip.

I think you are correct as to the MK III. They wouldn’t fit a 2” Lawman which is round butt. The 4” version might be square butt but I doubt it.

I agree.

I think they were made/shaped from a set of perhaps MkIII Trooper grips which are more like oversize targets.
Reprofiled & shaped down by someone to get a Service type grip style out of them.

The MkIII Lawman revolver was offered with a Service style grip but the Lawman had a slight RB feature to the frame so it doesn't quite fit w/o the frame hanging out the lower back.

The back sides of the grips appear as would any MkIII Colt revolver inlet and grip screw placement IMO.

I think the MkIII was a 'J' Frame in Colt Speak.

Yep, I agree, J frame Colt. The Troopers (MKIII) had target style grips, but the Lawman had the smaller versions. IE flat showing the backstrap.
