new to me P210A

Ok first off no more purchases until 2019 or beyond! But shooting IDPA really changed my interests outside of vintage Smiths. After handling the new P210 I thought this thing must do good in that application.

Just picked it up and I have to say I already love it before even shooting it.

The gun is very smoothly and very tightly fitted. I don't see any tool marks that suggests hand fitting but machining tolerances are really tight and very precise, no wiggle room in the slide to frame fit. It has a perfection like finish all around. Trigger is light, crisp and smooth, grips beautiful wood grain. The gun sits very low in the hand and instantly becomes one, at least for me. Controls are smartly arranged.

I like that my little Leopold torx wrench fits the grip screw.

I bought a Mitch Rosen express holster and single stack mag pouch off eBay for $30 and $20 and they are excellent for it.

Turns out the holster was for the old 210. The new P210 has a square trigger guard but the gun will easily work itself into position very soon. It almost goes all the way down already into the brand new holster.

Range report due tomorrow. Cant wait trying it.

Congratulations. But when I saw the title of your post, I had this in mind. We call them 210 A (for army) as they were ordnance guns, with the A prefix (though technically a 210-2). Well I guess it’s the great grandfather, built 1956.

I had the same reaction that you did. In this case, I think the "A" means, American.

finally my range report:

This is a real shooter. I have been shooting it quite a many times, practicing mag changes, combat drills to prep for IDPA (yes the grip is too wide but Sig will have the standard grip out soon).

The targets below were shot at 25 yards. The lower target winchester white box 124 gr. (nothing special in accuracy but ok), the upper I used 4.5 gr W231 with some old vintage FMJ 115 gr. maybe Noslers. Those were incredible and now I need to find something that can shoot as well.

If you can identify these bullets, please let me know. Those may not be Sierras, I just used the empty box.

In short, this is a heck of a shooter, smooth action, cycles everything, the mitch rosen single stack and the old style P210 mitch rosen express holster work wonderfully and look really great. I love that I do not ride the slide release and also that the safety and slide release are well placed and perfectly smooth with a perfect resistance level. I put maybe 500 rounds through it and the finish shows no wear on slide, frame, barrel or any of the lock up points, only a tiny rub mark under the slide release.

Can't be happier. I like vintage and many good guns and I am always a bit suspicious of anything brand new but among everything in my safe this is THE favorite.
