I have a friend who has a 10/22 Takedown, stainless with the synthetic stock. I have one also but don't shoot it much. He found some pictures of one with a wooden stock on the interwebs and decided he liked it and wanted to build one. I offered to help. Turned out there was a guy who cut the regular wooden stock in half and modified it to accept the takedown barrel and action, and he wasn't too far from us in California. We found a decent used stock and metal barrel band at a gun show, and he ordered a KIDD trigger because he wanted all silver for the metal. He stripped the stock and sent it to be cut/modified. When it came back he stained it, then put some tung oil on it. We also found a compact silver finished scope. We put it together the other day and hopefully a range test this week. I think it looks great and we may build another.
