Default Value Help, Colt Frontier

Hello,

I was hoping the forum could assist in putting a value to a Colt Single Action Frontier 22 I own.

I can see general GB prices but, wanted to see if the condition and original receipt, documents help this any.

OK, the revolver, it is a blue Colt Single Action Frontier in 22 mag with an additional 22LR cylinder. Its unfired and still in the original box and wrapping. The extra cylinder appears to have never been unwrapped.

I have the original hand written receipt in the box with serial number and listing extra cylinder. Purchasers name etc. It's dated 1963. S/N puts it 62/63. All other documents that came with it.

I don't really collect things that I don't shoot and am hesitant shooting this because well, it's been this way almost 60yrs.

It doesn't take up much room so, it's fine in the safe for now but, I've been itching for a new 1911.

I appreciate the feedback. Maybe the original receipt is just a neat to have and this example is on par with ones I see online.

I'm a shooter, not a collector. But if it is unfired since the '60s,I'd be tempted to leave it unfired and wait for MY price.
I'm not to adamant towards guns that are being said of '' pristine ''or unfired condition. But according to the photo I'd be inclined to have it certified by a knowledgeable and certified person and if it really is unfired,I'd consider it an investment.
Now if it comes out that it has been fires a few rounds,I'd certainly put a few more through it just to see how it performs.A few more...thousands that is!

You should head over to that other forum that shall remain nameless and post up there. They will give you a spot on evaluation.....but they will ask for some additional pictures.

I have one in 22 WMR from 1959 with wood grips (first year for the 22 mag I think) which appears unfired but no box/papers and no 22LR cylinder. I paid $438 for it a couple months ago and thought that was a great price for a first year one unfired. I would expect to find yours as described for $700-$800 where I shop. If unfired I wouldn't shoot it; plenty of them well used around for a lot less if you want to shoot one. Good luck.

Looks awesome!! It's your call but value aside I would sure hold onto it. Hate to see you have seller's remorse down the road.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I think it's going to hide in the deep dark spot in the back of the safe for now. I like the original receipt and info that came with it. The receipt was tucked in the owners manual.

Maybe it will serve as a nice trade option down the road.

That is just gorgeous. I would be torn right down the midline about shooting it. Probably couldn't resist. But at my age I wouldn't expect to have very long to hang onto it for sale or trade.

Know what ya mean. Still something special about a new unfired Colt.

Very nice Colt! You probably already know this, but if not, I'd advise that if you are going to leave it unfired, make sure not to work the action/cock it because it will develop a cylinder turn line and diminish value.

I've got a real nice LNIB Colt Frontier (complete package). Mine is the Buntline length. My looks very, very nice, but it has been fired. Since it had been previously shot, I put a half a box through it when I bought it 15 years ago. It's sat in the safe ever since. Have thought about selling it, but haven't been able to do it, yet...

They're nice revolvers, but I didn't think they were getting the big bucks like a lot of the other Colts. Haven't priced them in a while, so maybe that's changed...? I paid a lot for mine at the time, I think it was $500, or $550. My guess would be yours would be in the $600-$700 range, with $600-650 being more realistic. Of course, finding the right buyer might up that some. Check on the Colt forum, they'll be more up to date on pricing.
