Default Mossberg Semi-Auto 22s

My daughter in law and oldest granddaughter expressed interest in shooting some matches with my son. Steel challenge now allows for use of rimfire rifles and pistols so I picked up a youth model Mossberg 702 ($100.00) for the girls to use. Put a red dot on it and it almost worked too good. The son put a recoil pad on it to get a little longer LOP shot it in 3 matches got two 1st and one 2nd place overall finishes with it. The girls have been taking a break from shooting but the daughter in law is now a big fan of the son's AR-9 so she'll be getting back into the 22 soon.
I liked the 702 so well I picked up a Mossberg 715T Plinkster Talo edition ($120.00) for myself. Both guns have run flawlessly, triggers are not bad, and are more than adequate in accuracy.
I switched the stocks because the girls will more than likely never use the iron sights and I might. I've also picked up and few of the 25 round mags that have run fine in both guns.
In the price range I bought these at they are hard to beat.

For Christmas 1950, mom bought a Mossberg semi-auto 22 with scope. Including tax, she got change back from $15! The gun ran flawlessly until about 2002 the started to jam. I had it fixed and returned it to Dad The fingers that feed shells from the mag tube got brittle and broke off. Dad was furious I paid $35 to fix it! In my youth, dad could hit nickels at 50 yards with it! Sounds like the traditions continue!
