Beretta 12ga AL 390 on Gunbroker
I have a couple of Beretta 390's and so I keep up with what they are selling for on the auction sites.......as such, I was following this one on Gunbroker. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/771705074
Can't see how this shotgun is worth the $3000 bid by the high bidder.
Could be a bidding war....I've seen that happen, but outside of that I don't see where this shotgun is worth more than the starting bid of $850.
Am I missing anything here??
Don

Let's see if gets relisted due to a non-paying bidder.

I too am surprised by the high amount bid. 390 is a great old design but I have not seen Silver mallard before. Ive seen Tekney guns and the ducks unlimited. Maybe a very limited run? 28 inch guns even in semi auto are becoming obsolete. Everybody is moving up to 30 and in a break open 32 inches is now the more desirable length. As last poster said we have to see if it g ed ts relisted from non payer bidder.

Some shotgun forums tout the 390/391 as the best Beretta auto ever built. Maybe this is the result of that.
They are great shotguns, and the A400 that replaced them is too. My A400 xcel is about a year old now with lots of shells eaten without a hiccup.
If I had $3K to blow on a shotgun I'd be looking at one of Beretta's O/U's. I have a serious weakness for Italian shotguns.

Both bidders recently joined gunbroker and have no feedback

Bruce Buck, a fairly prominent gun writer, has told me that the 303 was the best model they ever made. I have shot his, but I prefer the stock on my A400 better

Clearly I have lived too long and the world has gotten all weird.
I'm betting on the shill theory.

Something is going on, it would take two shill bidders to make this happen, one wouldn’t do it.

I have not been watching shotguns since I reduced my trap shooting, but to my knowledge, there is no semi auto worth 3K

MAN, I feel CHEATED. I recently sold an AL390 to a buddy of mine for his step-sons 18th birthday. I just want to know who has my other $2750. :-(
