Webly Pistol Training
This links to a British training manual from 1937. Note comment pistols are not suitable for aimed fire.

Interesting to read, the British had stuck with the revolver when most other countries were switching to auto pistols. The experience of trench warfare and instinctive or point shooting clearly had a great deal of influence on their ideas of training. The manual illustrations do show both older Webley pattern 455's and the newer Enfield 38 and does at least cover some aimed fire. The occasional use of single action fire does get covered though the decision to standardize on the spurless DA only version of the Enfield would soon make it somewhat of a moot point except to those issued older or substitute revolvers (such as the S&W Victory). thanks for the link, I enjoy reading old training manuals such as this.

I'm trying to print this off but not having much luck. I have a Mark VI .455 in the original caliber. It's so ugly it's cool looking. I have to take it to my club's Great Wars match.

Fascinating, and clearly reflects some of the World War I tactics and philosophy--firing from horseback, and fighting in trenches.
I guess it's true: armies tend to prepare for the last war.
I can just hear a red-faced senior noncom bellowing the drill commands, with relish, at fledgling officers.

It actually shows how far ahead the British were in handgun doctrine compared to other militaries.
This is undoubtedly owed both to the experiences of commando-style close quarters combat in the trenches (which also produced such things as the submachine gun on the German side and oddities like a Webley Mk VI with a bayonet attached), as well as the influence of inter-war pistol shooting innovation by people like Fairbairn and Sykes (who didn’t just do knives).
While most armies’ solders were still punching holes into paper targets, standing in a fixed target shooter’s position, aiming with one eye closed, this manual already talks extensively about what we’d later call combat shooting or instinctive shooting.
The ultimate result was the Enfield No. 2 Mk I* and Mk I**, ugly, horrible trigger, DA only, very odd-looking but quite functional “pointing” grips. Really the first purpose-designed combat revolver.

Wow! No.3.-Single action,..."the mark will be the instructor's eye".......
I like the old gun, but don't know if I'd have been comfortable with the training
