Camillus ID
What is this thing used for? I found it in my Grandfathers tool box.
I figure someone here will know what it is long before I can find out, I don't even know where to start. I remember him having it from as far back as the early '70s.

That is a Camillus Folding Machete. It was made for pilot survival kits in the Pacific Theater during WW II. 121,848 were produced.

Thats a WWII Army Air Force folding machete.
Adopted in 1942 for the B-4 Emergency Bailout Kit.
You are missing the sheet metal blade protector.

My brother in law has a Wilkinson Sward folding machete with the blade guard. I've always admired it, well made and sturdy.
