Rimfire madness
I have owned one 1022 Ruger for 25years. I maybe have 5 magazines for it.
I probably have 1500 rounds through the action. It's a great shooter.
Recently I purchased a Browning Buckmark pistol. What a Trigger! Action is like butter.
Like the Simple design, easy to clean. Parts and accessories are every where.
I am a fan. I just love shooting steel targets with it.
Did I mention, I am waiting on a Silencerco sparrow.
And I recently purchased a Ruger 22/45 w a threaded barrel.
And I saw the S&W victory for $299 at Academy this week. 79.99 off regular price.
I need a bigger safe and a bigger budget.

Nothing beats .22LR at the range. I sincerely believe that if more folks would only try shooting a .22 rifle or pistol, then the world would have a much more positive opinion of firearms enthusiasts.
I own a Walther PPK/S .22 which is extremely fun to shoot, in spite of having an abysmal 17.5lb DA trigger. I only wish that I were able to go out and shoot it more often.

What do you call rimfire madness? I have a S&W 22A that I bought for $125 plus tax that has 110,000 rounds through it.
I finally came to the conclusion that ammo is a bigger cost factor and upgraded to (even) better guns.

I'm a huge fan of the Buckmark. My favorite .22 semi-auto pistol.
I own two. A 5.5" Buckmark Plus and a 4" Camper. The camper has a threaded barrel and yes, I do have a suppressor for it.

We have a Ruger 10/22 that we love to shoot, my wife shoots it really well. Soon I am gonna purchase the Ruger replacement trigger group and then I will really have to work to out shoot her with my Marlin Model 80 DL, that I have owned for about 50 years or more.
Here it is:
Have a blessed day,

Got a couple rifles myself. A Marlin bolt and the Ruger American 22 mag compact. The latter is a blast and a dream to carry in the sticks with the 18 inch barrel.

10 rifles, 3 pistols, and 1 revolver. Always looking for the next one. I have a thing for older 22s, I am usually amazed at how well they shoot.

Rimfire madness? I have a Marlin 60 with at least 150,000 rounds through it. I once spent $3500 in one summer on .22 ammo. And it wasn't high priced ammo or at least most of it wasn't. I shot 2 bricks a day just plinking or more. I could shoot a brick in an hour.
I've owned so many .22's I couldn't begin to count them all. I do own a Buckmark. Great pistol. I like 10/22s OK but I'd take a Marlin 60 any day of the week. A modified Ruger can be exceptional but out of the box a Marlin will shoot better almost every time. I know. I've tried brand new 10/22's against brand new 60's more than once.
But for sheer accuracy pleasure a bolt action .22 is unbeatable. Get yourself a CZ 452 or a 453 if you want to know .22 Nirvana at reasonable prices. I have a Savage MkIIBTV that actually shoots better than my CZ but it took me about 2 years to tweaking it to get it to shoot consistently. The CZ shot consistently right out of the box.
The best .22 I've ever seen was a Sako. Better than Anschutz models I've seen and light years better than a Ruger 10/22.
I do understand the love of a good .22. I grew up shooting them. I've been shooting them for over 50 years. And it doesn't cost a fortune to get a great shooter either. I have a Stevens 15-B which is a single shot rifle made in the early 50's. I've seen them sell for $50. It will shoot as good as any .22 I've ever owned.
I've loved .22's since dad brought home a Marlin 60 in about 1962. I wasn't able to shoot it for quite a while because I was too young but I dreamed of the day I could finally get my hands on it. I've had one pretty much ever since. Heck I've had a bunch of them actually but one I kept as my main shooter for 20 years. That's how it got so many rounds through it. I've shot birds flying with it and bats flying with it (always as a last resort for problem animals - I never shoot anything alive for no reason). I have rimfire madness. You may have just caught it. I've had it 50 years plus.

I went on a 22lr binge last year after getting ideas from this forum. I am still hoping for that nice CZ bolt action 22lr some day, and my only 22 handgun is still an S&W Model 22S that has fired every chambered round for 15 years. I was so close to getting a 22k masterpiece from a forum member when my long term employer unexpectedly pulled the rug from underneath me.

I'll bet most forum members consider their .22 the most fun and most often fired gun. This 10 year old MKIII has provided me with MANY thousands of rounds of pure enjoyment.

Pricier options than the S&W22A mentioned by me in post#3 include Hämmerlis, Korths, and a pre-war Walther PP made in Zella Mehlis.
A few Anschütz 54 rimfire rifles:

WHATEVER FLOATS YOUR BOAT.
But NO 22 revolver??? The Ruger MK, S&W victory, Browning buckmark, all kinda similar to me. 1500 rounds = just broken in. MAYBE trade/sell 2 of those 3 for 1 of the higher end 22's mentioned??? OR NOT. The choice is yours.

Better yet keep the current ones and buy more! A Buckmark is one fine pistol IMO. Very accurate. And there are 1000 ways to make a 10/22 better. Some aren't very expensive but produce much better accuracy. My friend added a brake on his and it got a lot more accurate. It only cost him $30 or so I believe.
The best shooting pistol I ever saw was a Ruger MkII with a 10" barrel. It was crazy accurate. I'm talking 1" groups at 50 yards. And I saw one on sale for about half what they used to go for right after the MkIV came out. The price is falling on a great pistol. It was about the same price I got my Buckmark for. I was seriously thinking of buying it but the guy behind the counter at the gun shop waited on someone who just walked up after I waited 20 minutes for service. Oh well. I'm pretty sure I don't need another .22. But that never stopped me before.

Here is my favorite 22lr.
A Marin 39A.
Really a tack driver with the cheap scope it came with.
It's a 1956 model.

I'm thinking of ordering a Marlin 22Mag bolt action.
It may seem weird, but I like tube magazines on a 22. I had a bolt action 22lr Remington with a tube when I was a kid, and I'd figure I need a replacement.
But since I have a good 22LR already, I'd get a 22WMR.
As far as I know, Marlin has the only 22WMR bolt action with a tube magazine currently in production.

These are my two favorites, a Ruger 10/22 in a dressup kit and a Colt conversion unit on an S70 frame.
Others that I enjoy when I go out shooting are a "custom" 4.25" Smith,
a CZ 452, and the Henry pump my wife bought me a few years ago.
This old Savage is neat, but I don't use it that much....
Another project I have is another 10/22 "grease gun" with a Charger barrel. I won't post any pics of that one, its pretty crude. But it shoots, and has knocked many squirrels out of trees.

Just left the range today shooting some steel with a couple of my suppressed .22s (a GSG 1911-22 and S&W M&P22 Compact). Loads of fun. I also have a M&P 15-22. I still want a Ruger Mark IV (whenever they get their act together) and possibly a Ruger Precision Rimfire.

Do you guys have problems with the Ruger SR22 magazine? A friend has one that he bought new and has trouble with the magazine feeding the shells properly. I told him he should send it back, but so far no luck.

Makes sense to me. A tube is a great way to load rounds. You can buy speed loaders for them but I can load my Marlin 60, which holds 14 rounds, in less than 30 seconds. That's faster than I can load a stock 10/22 mag or most box mags for that matter. You just line them up in your fingers and drop them in. Simple.
About 30 seconds to fully load a Marlin 60 - YouTube

I'm way behind the rest of you guys. I just have two. Both are oldies but goodies: An ancient Harrington & Richardson "Expert" (1938), and a semi-ancient Ruger Standard (1974). They're both fun to shoot, but the H&R is handicapped by having virtually no rear sight, just a 1mm wide by 1mm deep notch in the break-open latch. And no pre-milling for a scope or red dot in those days!

Some of you guys have a serious weakness for 22lr! I've had a MK II target forever and never really wanted another semi-auto pistol till the kids came along and one wasn't enough. Bought a SR-22 and it's been great also.
When my son got big enough to hold a rifle he got a 10/22 stainless for Christmas. A couple mags later and I was wondering why I didn't get myself one years ago. If I do get one it's going to have to be the M1 carbine version.

25 years and 1500 rounds. I hope you plan on shooting a little more than 60 rounds a year with it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a soft spot for .22lrs. I've got a 10/22, 550-1, winchester 72, Henry lever gun, GSG 522, MK 1, HS R-103, and H&R 622.

Wow! Some great pics. I love that Winchester Model 52. Wonder what it would cost if made the same way today. Well worth haunting the gun shows for used quality 22s from days gone by. Sure notice a difference but costs of material and labor are a far cry from 50-60 years back.

It's people like you and RWS that are skewing the reports of how many firearms are in America, the typical quote is that there are more guns than people.
Yes, you do detect a bit of envy here,,,,,,,,,I'm WAY behind you guys, but trying to catch up!

RWS, I think madness understates your position, obsessed seems to fit better.
If i had the funding and a more accepting wife, I'd be right up there with you!!!

I've shot the heck out of my Beretta Model 96 with a Ceiner 22 conversion kit on it. The kit financially was probably one of my best purchases especially since a brick of 22's could be bought for under $10 back then. I've always been partial to my Remington Model 572 pump for a 22 rifle and it has given me years of trouble free service.

I just counted and I have 17 .22RF firearms. More handguns than rifles. Probably my most used caliber.
