i have a ruger lcr revolver, i wipe it down each day after i am through carrying it. i have oiled the mainspring a couple times in two years, it seems fine and rust free but dry each time i have done it. should i oil it more often?, less? i don't want to take the grip off any more than necessary, i use mobile one and barricade as my oil. thanks
I'm not a ruger guy or gun expert but sometimes am anal about cleaned and lubed guns. I think if you carry daily, an annual inspection/cleaning/lube isn't excessive but probably isn't needed either unless exposed to the elements, etc. Otherwise, your daily wipe down will be sufficient unless experiencing problems. Of course that routine changes after firing but even then a total strip typically isn't required IMO.
