Knife blade eraser
I have a couple of knives to clean up. They have rust on the blades and others surfaces. Do those erasers work. Where can I buy one without buying it on the WWW? Thanks

They work pretty well at taking the red rust off, but leaving the patina.

My knife eraser is my new Buck Model 119, 75th Anniversary model.
With one good swing, it erases the top of a Kellogg's Nutri Grain wrapper.
Came that sharp right out of the box.

Can't speak to the eraser question but I've used a Pennie to remove rust on firearms with good success. Best is a pre-1982 penny as they decreased the copper content after that.
Anyway just use the rim around the edge of the front and back of the penny to scrape off the rust. It doesn't hurt the bluing on a firearm so shouldn't harm the knife blade

If these aren't collectables or valuable, naval jelly will takes most of it right off and then they can be polished up

I have used #0000 superfine steel wool and a bit of vegetable oil with some success. I just try to get the active red rust off.

Rust erasers?
I must not have been paying close enough attention. I haven't heard of rust rust erasers. Is that the name they are sold under? They sound like a good product. I already know of "Eleventy Seven" other rust removal products, and methods, but, not the erasers mentioned. Thanks.

How valuable are these knives? I use a Dremel and a bronze brush for anything rusted but not valuable. A valuable knife should not be treated that way though. It will leave marks. A belt sander with the right belt can do the job quickly also. I use a very fine grit sandpaper belt sometimes. Or just a file if it's something like a garden tool.
