Well that's pretty cool. Are the grips factory ivory?

That’s something different. Made by Chapuis Armes, who took over the manufacture of the MR 73 from Manurhin.

Interesting: I never knew that Manurhin made revolvers. I have a Walther P 38(P 1) and a Walther PP made by them and their work appears to be first rate. Beautiful revolver!

Perfect for wear while dining on Coq Au Vin or Boeuf Bourguignon and a glass of Burgundy.

Nice revolver. Although I have never had the pleasure to handle their revolvers, I have owned several of their contract pistols of the Walther PP and have found them to actually be superior.

The grips are giraffe bone, the look & feel of ivory without the BS.

Sweet gun, thanks for sharing. Glad to see you back on the forum. We talked on the phone once, my MR73 has a glitch and you were nice enough to try and help me solve it. The problem came after I had mine reblued. Do you still import them? Larry

Are you sure about that?

I'm not doubting you, I'm just curious how you can tell since Chapuis didn't take over until 1998. I know some things like sights changed, but I have no first-hand experience to make the distinction.

Manurhin has primarily been a manufacturer of ammunition production machinery.

The production of the MR revolvers is actually its original claim to independent fame as a gun manufacturer.

The Walther PP/PPK series production from 1952 to 1986, both for Walther/Ulm and under its own name, was just a license deal made necessary by Allied restrictions on Germany. The P38/P1 was never made in France, but in Ulm, and finished, proofed and labeled Made in France for the West Berlin police.

Easy, the HA prefix on the serial number.

Mine is HA 01512, bought new in 2009, produced in December 2007 by Chapuis, as confirmed by them by email upon my request.

Nothing wrong with that though, they make beautiful firearms and shotguns, they got the original tooling and skills, and it’s a beautiful gun. Great shooter too.

They really are top flight revolvers. Super durable, accurate. There once was a time when lightly shot, mostly carried examples could be had in the U. S. for less than $450.
