Weird Malfunction Kahr K9
I know this isn’t a Kahr forum but I’m not gonna join that one unless I really need to. Bought a K9 last week. It’s an early one from 1996. All black. Fired 150 rounds if my reloads no problems. Even fits perfectly in my Shield holster. Cleaned the gun and put it away.
So I take it out last night to just handle it and rack the slide with the empty mag in. Doesn’t lock back. Hit the mag release and it only comes out a hair. I had to really yank on the mag to get it out. Racked the slide a few times and reinsert the mag. Now everything is normal.
I really like the gun. Feels nice. Don’t like loading the magazines. Lips are kind of sharp. Shoots where I point it.
Any ideas?

Not sure about the sticky mag but a Upula mag loader will fix your loading woes.

Nope. Works fine with ammo loaded into it and while empty

Check that the grip screws aren't interfering with the magazine.
Happened on my K40.

Classic symptoms of follower over-ride -- the magazine follower skipped past the slide stop.
Usually a symptom of a worn follower but possibly a slide stop problem.

Call Kahr. Have them send you a new magazine follower. They are cheap plastic. They break easily.i know from first hand experience.

I had a Kahr from the same era and remember that they re-engineered the slide stop to address some problems. Yours might still have the old one. You could contact Kahr and check. I'm sure they'll take care of you.

I will. They opened up their new headquarters near me in Pike County,
PA. Should I swing by?

For now. But if I’m gonna carry it I’d rather be sure. 25 years of carrying a weapon and this never happened to me.
