Trade opinions: M19 for P226?
I have a 6" Model 19-4 listed for sale locally. I have been offered a Sig Sauer P226 9mm on an even trade. Looking for opinions.
Now before anybody gets their panties in a wad, I'm selling the Model 19 because I don't need it and rarely shoot it. I have four other 6" .357s and they'll all out shoot it.
I have a Sig P220 that I like a lot. Been kinda toying with the idea of adding a Sig 9mm for a while now. I'm kind of 9mm poor these days as I only have two.
What y'all think?

Not being a fan of the Model 19 with a 6" barrel (I like the 4" & love the 2 1/2"), I would probably do the trade.
Now I am a fan of the P22x family of SIGs
The P226 is a wonderful firearm. Like your P220, it is reliable and accurate.
With the P226, you can even add a threaded barrel if you want to suppress the pistol.
Try suppressing a Model 19
Magazines, grips and other accessories are plentiful for the P226. The P226 will also work in all the holsters that you already own for the P220

Is the Sig P226 a current production gun or an older stamped slide West German gun? I like Sigs, but mags can run up to $45.00 and night sights (if the gun you are considering has them) will cost $100.00+ to replace if necessary.

If YOU are good and happy with the trade, it's a good trade.

My opinion is that the only person who can answer your question is you.

Is the Sig listed on our local (Memphis) armslist as well?

I'm with Colt_SSA on this one.............
Like S&Ws an older W. German gun is better...... and I prefer compacts over the full size so I'd go with a older 228 over a 226 if there is an option.

I'm a W. German Sig fan also, but its up to you. IMHO you may shoot the 9mm Sig more for a while than you are the M19 but time will tell.
My W. German KG P226:
FWIW, if you have holsters for a P220 the P226 will fit right in...

Evaluate the P226, if it is clean, go for it. They are ball park value wise.

I don't have any details yet. He only says that the Sig is in good shape. He'll send me pics and details tonight after he gets off work.
At this point, I'm just trying to decide if I'll pursue this or not. But I am leaning toward doing the trade.

The 226 is a solid shooter.
My favorite Sig that I have new or old is a 226 Tacops with threaded barrel. It runs great supressed and the short reset trigger and beavertail frame are sweet.
