Sharps 45-70 problem
Anybody familiar with the Sharps 1874?
Last Friday,I went to the range and shot a grand total of 1 round.Opened up the action as usual, put on half cock, dropped the block, fed a new round and then, one of my friend talked to me.I again put on half cock and opened the action to get the round out.Chatted with him and when I again tried to open up the action, the lever would drop down but the block would only go halfway down with a definite feeling of metal against metal.
Tried to put it apart but the block wouldn't go out of its mortice.
Anybody can tell me what to do with this?

Did you pull back the hammer all the way, then lower it to cycle the firing mechanism? Then try the action opening sequence? I really do not know anything about these. just a thought

I currently have a Shiloh Sharps, and have had Italian copies in the past.
Carefully repeat the opening process after chilling in the deep freezer over night. The Bullet often seats into the rifling, and when not fired pushes the block against the receiver. Chilling shrinks everything metal a few .001's and take some of the pressure off.

Check to see if the firing pin is jammed forward a small amt and not fully retracted.
That'd leave either the tip dragging on the lower bbl face or the cam retracting surface of the firing pin inside dragging on the frame.
