Default Sig P250

Just traded for a Sig Sauer P250 with two barrels, a 40S&W and a .357 Sig. The takedown lever is almost impossible to push down, nearly takes a come along to move it! Never had this problem on any other handgun and I've owned a few. Is this common on this model. I know I could go to the Sig forum and get answers but I've never found a question that someone here couldn't answer. The gun is not new but fired very little. Appreciate any ideas.

I have had my P250 (9mm) for 10 years (bought it new) and the takedown lever is pretty stiff. Of course that is preferable to being loose and allowing it to rotate via gravity and recoil. In the 10 years I have owned it I have not had a single issue with it. Once you get used to the loooooong DOA trigger pull, it is a very accurate and sweet shooting gun.

I have owned five Sig P250’s; a .45 fs, compacts and sub compacts in 9mm and .40 S&W. I sold the .45 fs and .40 compact, still have the others. The .45 and .40 sub compact were/are difficult to take apart, the others are not. I never could figure out why. I swapped the grip module on both guns and it did not make a difference. I like these guns, but DAO is not for everyone.

Thanks for the reply's, looks like I just need to get used to the stiff take down lever and DOA trigger. Just traded for it so haven't shot it yet, I do think I will like it, it does feel good in the hand.

I got the sc. I have been working the take down lever this afternoon and it doesn't seem to loosen up much at all. It is really tight, as in two hands tight.

If you ever want to sell the .357 Sig barrel please let me know. Pachmayr now makes a finger extension magazine base for the sc mags. I ordered a Winthrop OWB pancake holster for my sc .40.

Thanks on the heads up on the mag extension. Not sure I'm going to keep the 357 sig barrel, going to fire a few rounds through it to see if I like the caliber. If I decide to sell it you will be the first offered.

You can try silicone spray on the inside of the takedown lever and pop the flush side of it with a brass or plastic hammer before you turn the lever. It may or may not help. I have a Sig SP2340 .40 S&W that has a similar problem.

It's the O ring. Try lubing it. Mine broke, and I replaced it with a different one. From the hardware store. I had to cut a piece out of it. Now it comes apart easily. I keep meaning to order some, but haven't gotten around to it. The o ring is there for friction, it doesn't seal anything. Take the o ring off the lever, and you will see what I mean.
