Default Sort of a Spanish HD 38/44

I drug out my Astra Police Revolver this morning to polish her up a little and I took these photos.

These revolvers are roughly between a L and N Frame in size, with recessed chambers and shrouded ejector rods.

In my opinion these are quality revolvers, not quite pre MIM S&W level, but good.

Although spanish made guns drag a bad reputation,Astra,Star and Llama are much better than the others. This one should make a nice shooter.

Yes Sir, with 5.2 grains of Unique behind 158 LSWC, it is a very good shooter.

Please do not take this as an endorsement to use the above loading in your revolver.

Not bad guns at all.

Here's my *1990's Astra Model 29 clone that has a pinned barrel and a recessed cylinder plus I think it's 4 or 5 screw.

Regards,

Kobsw

Not really. Looking at my guns, the Astra Police cylinder measures 1.570 dia x 1.773 long, while the L frame Model 581 measures 1.556x1.625 and a Heavy Duty cylinder measures 1.700x1.573. The N frame Heavy Duty cylinder is noticeably larger in diameter, although shorter in length.

The Astra is essentially L frame size.
