Handsome pair I reckon! Nice photos of some very nice revolvers! I'm glad I decided to take a peek. Congratulations on being their current caretaker!

If Uberti didn't step up to fill Hollywoods need for six guns in the 50's and 60's during Cowboy movies, we might not have ever had the chance to buy all the different six guns ever made. Those crazy Italians gave the world single actions and lever actions, since Colt or Winchester quit doing in the later years.

Beautiful pistols! Have seriously been thinking about ordering one in .44 Special or else .45 Colt. Would be about perfect for just being out and about in the woods and fields. Zeroed at 25-30 yds., it'd be about perfect for game up to and including deer at normal woods ranges. Plus, it'd be simply a joy to behold! Sincerely. bruce.

I like that bluing....Nice guns.
Never gave an Uberti SAA a single thought til
this one came across my table early this year.
Quite pleased with it's fit an function.
Shoots great.
This one is their "Cattleman", I think, in SS near NIB.
Came complete with the El Paso Shoulder rig.

Thanks for sharing with us. The Italian gun makers may be the only game in town soon, as it appears that Colt is slowly cutting back production, and there is speculation that they will get out of the SAA market altogether. Sad, if true, but some of these imports, like yours are very nice indeed!!
Best Regards, Les

That is very true, it is not as durable as a standard bluing. But I already have standard blue versions and wanted something that is out of the ordinary. I do carry these daily on occasion in my gun belts for open carry duty. I don't use them to sand with or as a hammer. I built holsters that are baby soft suede lined and do a pretty good job of protecting the finish. But in the end sometime they will show holster wear just like any other finish does.

A very fragile finish. I have one, but it sits in its box because it is too pretty to shoot or even touch. They are actually prettier than the Colts and just as well made.

"These are my 2 Colts in Charcoal Bluing."
They're nice clones, but Colts they are not.

Thank goodness they aren't. Colt isn't what it once was. The other thing that is commonly misunderstood, is that when you describe a style of firearm i.e. 1911 it's not concerning a particular brand of 1911 since they were manufactured by literally dozens of different companies. I have many Colt single action Army models by various manufacturers.
When a person asks me what I'm wearing I just say a Colt .45 and if they want specifics then tell them the exact model and year it is. I think those who are snobs about it are silly and personally don't want to bother with them. If you are a snob, please move on and whine elsewhere. If you are not a gun snob and just want to "educate" me, then thank you for the enlightenment. Otherwise I just enjoy guns and art they can be.
I love my Colt models very much.

It should be noted that when Colt re-introduced their 1903 Model the parts were all made in Italy and the pistols just assembled here. The retail price is still around $1100. I wonder what the price would have been if Colt had to manufacture the parts themselves?

I heard a long time ago that Uberti was making the parts for Colt to use in their SAA pistols. Also heard that Uberti and Colt parts were fully interchangeable. Seems like that would be one way to restore an old beat up Colt.

Cimarron Firearms has a "Colt" 1873 in their collection from the 70's that they exhibit from time to time to show that Uberti DID manufacture parts for Colt, so Colt could bring back here and finish them for assembly. Colt swears this never happened, except the evidence is proven otherwise.
This isn't the thread to start a war of what is or what isn't. This should be another thread. I can go back to sources close to the actual Colt by Uberti and try to hunt up the original prototype Uberti submitted to Colt Inspectors before the contract was issued.
Oopss… my misrecollection has gotten me in trouble....I called Cimarron to see if I could get it, but they say they don't know if they ever did! So I will continue to search for that photo.

Recommend you look at Mr. Kuhnhausen's shop manual for Colt Single action revolvers and their clones before purchasing parts for that purpose. His illustrations will show you the differences between the different makers versions, where they exist.

The Italians sure do know how to make nice and good guns.
Beretta is the oldest ''pistoli''firm in the world dating all the way back in the 1600's.
While I don't have an Uberti,I own a Sharps Pedersoli 1874 that is soooo well put together! The wood to metal fit is right on par with my old Browning...and from me,comparing it to my Browning means a lot!

Not to start a keyboard war, but for the sake of clarity, charcoal bluing (done many different ways) is completely different than nitre bluing.

I have a Uberti 4 3/4" SSA clone that had charcoal blue. First shots and the blue was gone on the cylinder face! I used the pistol quite a bit and it's finish aged down to look like Uberti's higher priced well worn/distressed finish.
That was an early 2000's revolver...Uberti may have improved the charcoal blue finish since then.

I'm aware of the differences, I was merely commenting that I like both of them due to them both having a blue tint as opposed to more conventional bluing which is most often just a glossy black finish with little or no tint of blue to it whatsoever.

Uberti Cimarron...I bought this a few years ago with the intentions of converting it to a snub.
Thus far I can't make myself do it.
