The only way to Guarantee...
A birthday present is a surprise and what you want is to go shopping yourself!
My birthday was the 17th (last Tuesday) and after a doctor’s appointment with my cardiologist - that neither one of us made - I stopped at a gun shop that has lots of interesting used handguns.
Over the years of looking in display cases (at Antique Malls looking for older knives) I can spot. The gems waiting for me. To lust for. Tuesday was no exception - and there it was; a Nice looking. Browning High Power, chambered in .40 S&W. I’ll take it I said; and the he pulled out the original gray plastic with the second magazine, owner’s manual, and the (usually missing) sight tool! Priced around 25-30% lower then I thought it would be; a fair price considering how much they usually mark up their gun prices. I would say this was a win for the customer!
I only had time for a few cellphone pictures - which do not do any justice at all.

I still do not buy anything chambered in 40. Not for any reason against 40, I just decided early on that 9mm and 45 ACP were my semiautomatic handgun chamberings. Something I read about in standardizing ammo long ago. I missed out on a lot of good guns at good prices that way. This would be a good 40 to get. May it serve you well.

Rick - I’ve never been a fan of guns chambered in .40 S&W; then after five years with CBP we went from the Glock 17to the H&K 2000SK in .40 S&W. With a 3.26” barrel shooting .40 S&W I was impressed by the round and the accuracy from the gun.
I can count the number of guns I own chambered in .40 S&W on one hand but when I saw the High Power’s price tag and all that came with it - I can live with a .40 High Power!

I'm 62 now, but just before my 45th birthday, I decided every birthday present I bought myself should "Stainless". I have decided that shotguns are exempt from this requirement (Mostly due to limited availability and gross ugliness!) Several Smiths, Colts, and Rugers later; I don't wait for my Birthday!!!

A couple of quick cellphone shots; when I return home I’ll take some photos of it in natural light with a “real” camera!

Very nice. Everyone should treat themselves after a crummy trip to the doctor's office. You deserve a fine reward.

Mauser9 it wasn’t really a lousy trip to the doctor’s; I enjoy being able to be seen by military doctor’s at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio; it’s a great medical facility with some world class doctors there treating patients. The appointment did get me close to the gun shop after all!

UR on a roll cwo4 , a trifecta : 1) Birthday...wishes for many more, 2) "good doctor appointment"...cardiologist no less and 3) not only a "new" pistol, but a BHP .40 Sport Model no less...truly excellent .
Congrats on all 3 …..
